FYI, some of the sound quality is questionable in this clip but it's still a must watch. Also keep in mind that this is the last 8.5 minutes of a 23 minute segment (so there IS more of a build up). If I can find the whole thing I'll post it.

They always demand something obscure: "How many people died in hurricanes during the Clinton years? or How did the tax rate change for those making between 100 and 125 K per year during the period from 1993 to 1998? How many tons of C02 were emitted by the Secret Service drive-a-long cars during Clinton's jogs to McDonald's? Oh You don't know? You don't know? You didn't do your research'. Meanwhile they make completely unfounded claims and refuse to support them with facts. When pressed, they try to shout you down. No reasoning skills, no ability to listen AT ALL, closed minds.

The Head of FEMA was a dog show judge. It is true that Mayor Nagen did not have his act together, but it is also true that the Gov. of Louisiana tried to get the Feds to help 6 days and 2 days before Catrina, and the Feds. did nothing.

Finally: The fact is that Catrina was huge disaster, and there will be difficulties and mess-ups and disorginization, but after the Storm it took the Feds. 4 days to really get rolling on relief efforts, reminding my readers that the Gov. of Louisiana asked for assistence prior to the storm; that about 90,000 people never were able to move back to New Orleans, and the Feds Tore Down Good Public Housing In New Orleans that could have held several thousands of people; FEMA had trailers that they knew beforehand had Formaldehyde; there was low quality workmanship at some of the Levees; the Feds. refused to fund the repair of the levees years before Catrina; the Republicans had many positions filled by cronyistic appointments in FEMA, and the Dept. of Homeland Security; the Feds. were not prepared for this disaster, and they knew it was coming; and there were Republicans that wanted to decrease the population of New Orleans, and for Racist reasons at that. All of these points are because of the Republicans. The Republicans are responsible for a lot of pain, suffering, and stupidity about Catrina.

They stepped to with Gustav because they did not want their negligence, and criminality to be obvious to the Independent voter, thus costing them in the Nov. election. Cenk is right to allude to this.

Brownie was fired from a high level position in the Arabian HORSE Association. In the horse world, we recognized the name but couldn't believe the same, totally incompetent eff-up could possibly have ended up head of FEMA.

25. Supposedly amongst friends here, get my facts straight. All I am trying to do is offer help to the
Democratic Party. Cenk's point with the fellow that got all freaked out was that the Republicans were on the offensive about Gustav, instead of Katrina. Also, lots of work. Little sleep. Arabian Horse Association I got now, thanks, and Katrina with a K. I did not know that DU has to be so Hypercritical. But it is, and so many people have jammed so much crap at others that there is a group that does not go onto Daily Kos anymore, nor DU because of the sharpness that some impose on others. I would like us to be Brothers and Sisters for the cause of social progress, thinks for the criticism. Criticisms can be given in a variety of ways. Stating Get my facts straight is a bit condescending, do you not think?

Anyway, Thanks. I strive for excellence and greatness in my life. I also strive for compassion and understanding. I have a dictionary next to me. I always source an essay. I do not always source a post to someone elses post. My bad.

I haven't seen a single Black Republican on TV who wasn't a total and absolute moron. (I've never met a single one in real life, though I don't hang out with many Republicans, period.) Just yesterday on CNN they were talking to that kinda chubby black Democratic pundit (forget his name, but he's on a lot and is pretty good), and this other black lady who was a "former RNC official" and an editor at the Washington Times(!). They were talking about Obama/Palin regarding the experience issue, and the Dem said that Obama had just gone through a 18-month-long primary, where all those issues came up, and voters rejected them, but Palin was chosen by just one guy seven days ago. The Republican lady actually replied, "What about Joe Biden? Did he have to go through a primary?" and the Dem was like, "Um, yes! Did you watch any of the debates?" It was awesome and yet so pathetic--and par for the course for a black Republican.

I guess when you're a black Republican, it just eats away at you that you're advocating for a party that literally wouldn't throw you a lifesaver if you were drowning.

"Can a Democrat President stand in front of a hurricane and say 'stop!'" No, of course not, you fucking moron. We're not talking about stopping hurricanes, we're talking about helping people get the fuck out of its way.

And they were also the definition of "self-hating," as proven by the palpable disgust they had when talking about the black population of New Orleans, primarily from the woman.

This is a picture perfect Republican case study.

Cenk was NEVER permitted to answer a question or make a complete point.

The Republican did- as most do- shifted the topic constantly so as to avoid any resolution.

Cenk showed himself as infinitely more mature and confident.

If it were me... (and this is a big if), after the third time the Repube grabs the mike and cuts off my response, I would reverse the emotional direction, calmly say that if you don't allow me to answer your questions and continue to behave like a child this interview is over.

While this may not make for good entertainment, it is, in my estimation, a viable response.

PS:IF YOU CAN, TELL THE AUDIO PERSON TO _TURN OFF_ THE NOISE GATE! (just a suggestion. at this point it does nothing but butcher the audio)

PSS: I love Cenk.

Cenk, I'm glad you didn't back down but that had to be terribly frustrating. The guy is a selfish jerk. Typical republican who is good at twisting arguments into insane logic. Notice he didn't once repeat what you said ... he twisted it. He then takes his twisted argument and talks to you like that's what you said. And you end up having to raise your voice over his non-stop bullshit to say, "that's not what I said". They don't care. Maybe next time you should let him talk on his own because all the evidence in that video is proof that he doesn't need anyone's help to make an ass of himself. What self-righteous bullshit.

This guy misses the fundamental points here. 1. Bush's response to Katrina was so bad it did cost lives. It wasn't like he murdered people with his bare hands or anything, nobody is saying that, but the man had to be cajoled into watching network footage by his staff before he did much. He was more concerned with riding his bike and losing an extra five pounds he recently gained. And no the president isn't the one who does all of that persoally, he sets it into motion though, for FEMA. And FEMA was a joke at the time. Hardly competent and it showed. Republicans don't like government so they make it a playground for cronies and turn it into a joke. It's a self-fulfilling prophesy, they can say government sucks when they watch it fail. Well yeah, government sucks, at least when Republicans run it. If Bush was a more competent leader and took governing seriously lives would have been saved. Period.

2. We wouldn't have known if a hurricane as powerful as Katrina hit when Bill Clinton was president, because it would be remembered differently. Bill Clinton was a competent leader and his reactions to these events were always done efficiently. One thing we know, if Bill Clinton was president, based on past performance, he wouldn't have twiddled his thumbs while a whole city was drowning. And under Clinton FEMA and it's director, James Lee Witt was an effective, well-respected agency.

3. Because of Bush's ill-conceived and unnecessary war in Iraq an important responder force was depleted, and that was the Louisiana National Guard, as well as the NG forces in the surrounding states. That helped exacerbate the problem. Last time I checked, that didn't happen under Bill Clinton's watch either.

Should we privatize it like it used to be and the poor can sit and watch their houses burn, if they and their family aren't inside them that is.

As for the answer to the angry guy who never let Cenk get a word in edgewise, it is in the FIRST LINE of the Preamble.

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America" Duh.

I wonder if either of them have even bothered to read the thing? I don't think letting people's property burn down that can't afford a private service insures domestic Tranquility, or provides for the common defence, nor does it promote the general welfare.

By the way, I wonder how they will get home with no roads, or FAA to ensure their safe flight?
