Freakin' Debbie Downer. This is the Bush legacy. The Bush recessions would become the McCain Depression. I wish people would understand just how scary a McCain presidency would be.

1. Wow. I wish they would have had him on longer - this was informative.
I wish every American could listen to his explanation, and then they'd understand what we're really facing. Move beyond the bullshit and roll up our sleeves, throw the bums out, and get to work getting our country back.

Interesting what he said about the American auto makers.

8.  I wonder... Are the Media Pundits really this stupid?
Or are they following orders to protect the Bushies? No audlt with a high school level economics understanding could be this dumb?

9. They're insulated
Edited on Tue Sep-09-08 02:04 AM by Wetzelbill
They mostly look at the economy in terms of numbers. The concept of something really hitting hard is foreign to them because politics is mostly a "he said, she said" game. They are fine in that element, but once they discover something out of it, it's like somebody just told them the earth isn't really flat. Most of these people don't really believe there is a huge difference between parties or that GOP policies are that destructive. They just sort of look at the basic politics and entertainment of it then analyze that.

12. They're stupid. They really believe that if you keep cutting the wealthy's taxes
and continue to spend like a drunken sailor, you will have strong economic growth.

Media gerbils are so detached from reality, they're worse than Hollywood celebrities. And yet, they have the opportunity to learn what's really happening because they have access to the movers and shakers of the world.

17. Media vs. celebrities
I would say that celebrities, in between movies, have more of an opportunity to get out and see the real world than the media pundits who spend all their time in front of a camera. In researching a role, or traveling someplace where their face is unrecognized, they can find out what life is about. To be successful in the media only requires parroting the Repub party line.

20. They're Not Stupid. They're Lazy.
They could inform themselves if they wanted to, but, just like their hero, Bush, they don't want to inform themselves. They get paid to dish the dirt on Britney Spears, and they're more than happy to do just that.

These fake experts & bubbleheads are asking "who's responsible"?! McCain's chief advisers were those lobbyists John Green and Wayne Berman 4 Fannie Mae "that shall remain nameless for the sake of the joke we play on the dumbass public" ;)

23. NPR this morning (9-9) actually talked about Miss MooseMeat "ignoring" the fact she had supported
the bridge to nowhere before her position became "untenable" -- language about as mild as it could get and still be on a news program --

But not one word about her major Fannie-Freddie flub -- that was unforgivable, that at this stage of the game (VP candidate!) this woman is saying the problem with Fannie and Freddie is that they "got too big for the taxpayers to support." What an airhead.

And on the bridge -- what a liar!

The most basic detail, that's a sobering thought. There are real consequences who wins, but some people just don't get it.

7. A lot of insiders are going to be raking in the loot. The taxpayer, who already owes for the Iraq
war and for the irresponsible W. Bush tax cuts, and $100s of billions for "crony capitalism", will of course be stuck with the bill. And a blank stare.

How to set a state up to fail. hmmm?

10. This only reinforces we need smart people in Washington
We need smart candidates in the White House, not McCain who admits they know little about financial issues (mostly just good at war) and Palin who comes from the biggest pork barrel (per capita) state which is also the most wealthy state in the union and therefore has NO experience in issues related to REAL industry problems, real business job loss issues, and business turnaround strategies outside of the oil industry. Experience in the oil industry is as much experience as milking a cow. Only difference is the color of the milk. It is not the knowledge and judgement needed to turn around this economy.

The McCain campaign is pushing her oil background as a good thing. In reality, she has NO experience in industries which generate American products, jobs and the country's financial growth. If nothing else, they keep touting her proximity to Russia as 'foreign policy' experience. If that is fair, then it is fair to then say she is probably equally versed at state-run corruption, government payoffs and insider control and other such Russian government mainstays.

on the Iraq war and all of the other gunboat diplomacy we're practicing.

The Pentagon gets a blank check and no accountability. That's gotta change.

Unfortunately, this country has been overrun by a bunch of insecure men who try to compensate for their lack of manhood by engaging in arms buildup and wars.

21. He's so full of shit and knows perfectly well about the Bush legacy...
That he would end his comment- "you're gonna have to sell your home in the Hamptons", shows just how ridiculous his attempt at spin is...

Thank you for this video. It's the one reason I have now to watch cup o Joe!

Edited on Tue Sep-09-08 04:05 PM by Wetzelbill
Because Mort is loaded. He always gives him hell about stuff like his home in the Hamptons etc. They've been on The McGlaughlin Group together often over the years. I think he wasn't trying to spin he was just teasing him. at least with that comment. But that sort of a thing they do with Mort, Pat and John McGlaughlin tease him about being rich.

Making snide remarks about Kerry. He said he wasn't personally voting for Bush, but he absolutely could not vote for Kerry, or something like that. Yeah, like anybody short of McCain/Palin could have ever been as bad as Bush/Cheney.

30. this is setting up Obama for a firefighting presidency
on purpose. W and his fellow thugs are drowning the US gov in an ocean of debt ala Grover Norquist, thus preempting anything positive from happening the next 4-8 years. these people are so sinister, so anti human, if americans understood half of what's going on right now they would demand the hanging of the whole republican leadership, no exceptions ;)

JOBS. SALARIES. MINIMUM WAGE. Everything in this country has gone UP, except pay. It's in the same place it was 20 years ago!! People aren't saving MONEY, because they don't have it!! If the middle class has to pay more taxes, the crash will be even harder. This country has always lived off the backs of the middle class, and if they don't get a clue, this country will not make it. How many fucking JOBS does one person have to have to make it these days?? There are only 24 hours in a day!!

Does anyone think the rich people help the economy? I don't. They are RICH because they have it all, and they invest it all, and SAVE it. I'm not saying they all got their money in a winfall, but Jesus, it is US who keep them making money. When we are all OUT of money, then what? THEN WHAT??

They need to get some GOOD paying jobs back in this country, NOW. You know, this whole problem started a LONG time ago. We are our own worst enemy. We had to have technology. We did it. We built computers, and robots, and all of the other things that replaced humans in high paying jobs. And what jobs that didn't take, were shipped overseas!! And along came fucking Wal-Mart, with their 18 BILLION dollar a year imports from China, putting even more companies out of business. I remember when they were proud to only offer things made in the USA. Not anymore, because they have helped to create a monster. Now, no one can afford to shop anywhere else. Anyway, I digress....

Sure there are jobs for those who have formal training, but not everyone can/could afford a college education. Those are the people who were left behind.

I don't know...it's just so fucked up, I wonder if it can ever be fixed.

Obama's right though. This starts AT THE BOTTOM, NOT THE TOP.
