5. Wow. Just .... wow
I thought it was just hyperbole when people said she was anti-choice even in these extreme cases. I didn't know she was actually ON RECORD. This needs to be pushed far and wide.

9. brainless GOP automaton with no feelings or humanity
Of course the real pro life position is held by the most secular country in the world, the Netherlands with 5/1000 abortion rate (4X lower than the US) and they save babies by providing single payer universal healthcare, women's shelters, social safety net for families, family planning and comprehensive sex education.

13. No wonder her opponent lost.
Sheesh.. how hard is it for Democrats to figure out this message?

A: I have two daughters. If either of them were raped I would not want them to have to endure further violation from their government. I do not believe that the government has the right to force rape victims to carry their unwanted pregnancies to term, then go through potentially life threatening labor and delivery.

20. Do you think that line of response would have hurt her a bit?
She was sort of wishy-washy and defensive about her position. I think if he had come out strong against government interference into private matters, he would have come off looking strong.

21. It could have hurt her for sure
And a response about govt interference could resonate with some people too. It just depends, because the type of demographic that would vote for her on social issues would vote for her on those either way. I'm not sure there is much of a swayable demographic on this one issue. But as for making her look weak vs strong, that definitely could have went a long way.

15. Wow. That scared my dog.
Normally he completely ignores any sound from my computer, but his head snapped up, he cocked his ears, and stayed that way throughout the clip.

Of course, Palin herself needs no soundtrack to be scary. What I read silently to myself on the pages of DU is worse than any Stephen King novel.

18. "The Saracuda"
Palin was reportedly called "the Saracuda" in high school and the reasons are becoming obvious.

Sarah Palin's potential attempt to hide her daughter's unwanted child, by claiming it was hers.

24. Monsters are borne of this mindset...
Edited on Fri Sep-12-08 10:49 PM by Snarkoleptic
During a Christmas holiday, a young nun named Sister Mary Helena (a.k.a. Amanda Krueger) was accidentally trapped inside a ward of the Westin Hills psychiatric hospital. Known as “the tower”, this ward was used to house the very worst of the criminally insane. Amanda was raped and tortured by the 100 patients confined there. She was found days later, close to death and now pregnant. Frederick Charles Krueger was born months later after a breech birth and was given up for adoption.

But seriously.
Palin and her ilk-
A woman raped by a gang of Wasilla meth-heads must give birth to the child?
(Wasilla is the meth capital of Alaska)
A woman raped by a mentally challenged relative must give birth to the child?

This woman is out of her mind and must not be elected!

30. While I think what she is saying is reprehensible....
....please do note that the video had obviously been edited to show her smiling after the "again I would choose life" statement.

We never actually see her say these words on screen, followed by that big vacuous smile. It seems that it may have been edited to appear that way. It is a minor nit-pick, I know.

Just sayin', 'cause it is easy to be manipulated by these editorial decisions, and it bums me out when folks don't let the idiocy of these people stand on there own, without creative intervention.

32. She is a rote learner.
She remembers things, but she does not think things through for herself. Her answers to questions are kind of flippant, superficial. She never seems to wrestle with moral issues. It's like she has learned the right answers by heart and just spouts them off. Probably good at spelling bees.

But, can I trust her? No. Her thinking lacks depth. Superficial. That sums it up.

I know very religious people who may agree with her, but who have arrived at their decisions the arduous way. They will qualify their responses -- this is what I think generally, but faced with the decision myself, I don't know what I would do. Let's face it. That is the only answer that is honest for most thinking people -- and that is why we need choice. Most people will not choose to have abortions and will avoid them by using birth control and taking care of the children that they conceive, but no matter what your convictions, you can change your mind when a difficult reality confronts you.

What I don't like about Sarah Palin is her overconfidence. She is conceited without having any reason to think so highly of herself. Her overconfidence and conceit starkly contrast with the humility of people I emulate as spiritual and religious examples for my life.

This is not about religion or religious conviction.
