1. This directly contradict's John Fund's assertion on Maher's show... |
|
that none of the candidates knew about the Bush doctrine during their respective debates when there were 8 or so Democratic and Republican hopefuls each.

4. Fund is just practicing what Repubs have always done--bluff and hope it goes through |
|
Not too many years ago, that practice worked.
Problem is, in this age of the internet, it's easy to verify the statement and publish and it expose these things as the lies that they are.
If I had a nickel for every lie exposed from McCain, Palin and their surrogates just in the past two weeks, I would be a very wealthy man.

8. Here's another thought on Charlie's questions. |
|
He didn't expand on the Bush Doctrine for the debaters, he did it so the people in the audience and watching on TV would know what the hell he was asking about. It wasn't for the benefit of the debaters, but for the benefit of the American people are have been so dumbed-down. I think that was very obvious.

10. I was pretty pissed that SOMEONE didn't point out that if the Bush Doctrine was |
|
'defined' before the question (which is now suspect) that it SURELY would have been to educate the people watching the debates, in case THEY weren't familiar, NOT because the candidates were unaware of the most important foreign-policy shift in modern US history.
AND it proves that Palin didn't watch the debates! She thinks she's 'qualified to be VP'???? Hell, she's not even qualified to VOTE for VP!

9. Suddenly no one is familiar with it |
|
This is stunning. Suddenly, no pundits, no politicians and none of us "ordniary people" (GOD, I hate that expression) are familiar with the Bush Doctrine! Well hell, I imagine John Fund probably wrote whole columns about it, and I imagine every elected official debated it in public or private at one time or another. And this "ordinary person" knew exactly what it was -- AND HATED IT -- from the moment she heard about it. I remember thinking, "OMG, this preemptive war in Iraq isn't just a one-off thing -- it's an example of a new foreign policy DOCTRINE!!!"
For Palin not to know what it was is simply unforgivable. It's the lynchpin of Bush's foreign policy. The thought of her anywhere near the White House is terrifying.

12. Soundtrack - Depeche Mode "Policy of Truth" lyrics |
|
You had something to hide Should have hidden it, shouldn't you Now you're not satisfied With what you're being put through
It's just time to pay the price For not listening to advice And deciding in your youth On the policy of truth
Things could be so different now It used to be so civilized You will always wonder how It could have been if you'd only lied
It's too late to change events It's time to face the consequence For delivering the proof In the policy of truth
Never again Is what you swore The time before Never again Is what you swore The time before
Now you're standing there tongue tied You'd better learn your lesson well Hide what you have to hide And tell what you have to tell You'll see your problems multiplied If you continually decide To faithfully pursue The policy of truth
Never again Is what you swore The time before
