CBS Face The Nation - Sept. 14, 2008: Wasserman says Palin lies about foreign policy experience and travels to Iraq. In a pretty one-sided argument, she calls out McCain & Palin in a big way about not being truthful.

1. Jane Swift, former acting governor of Massachusetts...
Edited on Mon Sep-15-08 03:25 AM by Eric J in MN
...thinks that women who are discriminated against shouldn't be able to sue for equal pay because trial lawyers would profit.

That is that the same stupid argument which John McCain used against the Lily Ledbetter Act for equal pay.

Ordinary people shouldn't be able to get justice because it benefits trial lawyers, according to them.

2. In that case, any civil lawsuit should be barred from occurring...
say, like for personal injury, since the trial lawyers benefit to the tune of 1/3 of the reward monies.

After all, who cares that the plantiff would still get hundreds of thousands of dollars that they didn't get before? :sarcasm:

3. Wow, I didn't know that!
It's like not seeking help when you're sick because it would benefit the pharmaceutical industry!!!

11. republican women just like their men, don't think the rest of us are human beings
regardless of gender. these are really despicable people. it's like 1905 all over again in the Hapsburg empire and the aristocracy of small villages and towns are spending their wealth robbed from poor peasants in Vienna so that they can party with the real nobility and outspend them. that's what gives them their self worth and the motivation to step on others. I swear it's the same attitude that brought down Europe in the 20th century. is this genetic, or something in human nature?! scary shit!

15. Swiftboat's agrument doesn't work for the working people.
Her message is to protect those who would benefit by disenfranchising against those Americans who are seeking legal avenues to level the playing field.

10. Exactly!!
I couldn't have expressed it better: just tell the truth! If Republicans start accusing them of bias, tell them you've got a bias, all right - a bias for the truth and if they don't like it, stop lying!

By giving the voices equal time and criticizing neither, the message they send is that neither side is really right or wrong.

5. I never want to have to debate Cong. Wasserman-Schulz.
She's so bluntly honest (as she should be) and great at debating. It's awesome to watch. I wish I was as cool under fire as she is.

13. Jane Swift wasn't elected governor.
She became governor when the previous governor was appointed Ambassador to Canada by George W. Bush.

Then she didn't run and Massachusetts elected Mitt Romney.

Romney didn't seek re-election.

Then Massachusetts elected Democrat Deval Patrick.
