On the same day that Lehman files for chapter 9 and Merrill Lynch is sold to the highest bidder, John McCain states that "the fundamentals of our economy are stong."

2. aren't banks part of the fundamentals
maybe I know nothing, but I would think that strong banks would be the foundation of the fundamentals of our economy. Am I wrong?

15. HIS fundamentals are his 8+ houses and HIS bank accounts.
He cares little for the rest of us.

6. Is it just me or is he trying not to smirk at the end of that clip
To me it looks like even he knows how f***ing stupid he looks repeating that phrase on today of all days. I imagine he probably blew up at his speech writers after he got off the podium and out of sight.

18. OMG, I'm so sorry. Those DOW numbers on the screen threw me off. Have you seen the
McCain ad that came out today calling our economy a crisis? Which is it?

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/09/15/mccain_fundamentals_of_economy.html

snip>

By the afternoon, McCain had altered his message. Speaking before a town hall meeting with a Hispanic organization in Orlando, McCain sought to explain that his earlier comments had been intended as praise for the resilience of American workers.

"And my opponents may disagree, but those fundamentals -- the American worker and their innovation, their entrepreneurship, the small business, those are the fundamentals of America, and I think they're strong," he said in Orlando.

But a few moments later, he described the country's current financial situation as "a crisis" and repeatedly said he was concerned about the fundamentals of the economy.

"I know Americans are hurting,'' McCain said. "The fundamentals of our economy are at risk.... And those fundamentals are threatened, they are threatened and at risk because some on Wall Street have treated Wall Street like a casino.''

He repeated that message several times, each time sounding more worried and less reassuring.

"Our economy is at risk today, have no doubt how serious this problem is,'' McCain said. "We've got to fix this economy, which the fundamentals of are at great risk right now.... I want to promise you that it's my highest priority. "

17. Really? How could it be reporting the DOW at -95 I don't believe it got above -200 all day? Sorry
if I read that incorrectly. If he really did repeat this sound economy crap today we need to pound him on it.

19. That clip was at 9:35 am; the market just opened at 9:30
That's why it was down only 95 points; the market had just opened. Everyone knew today was going to be bad because of the news about Lehman Bros., Merill Lynch, and AIG over the weekend.

12. "the fundamentals of our economy.." must be his bank account and his security with the beer bitch...
Yeah, he's doing fine. Nothing to worry about in his seven homes. His old lady #2 has got his ass covered. "my fundamentals of MY economy are just fine"....f*ck the rest of this nation.

What a dumb ass.

Just drove through Yellowstone Nat'l Park. It's in Wyoming, and that is ONE SCARY PLACE. I've never seen so many red neck, right wing, flag waving repug morons gathered in one place in my life. We stopped in a cafe, and I saw probably 1000 flag items....cups, signs, stuffed animals, model cars, guns, etc. etc. around the place, signs claiming the bravery and courage of the fire dept, marines, army, etc. This was "national pride week" rolled into a whole life existence. I honestly think these dumb asses believe waving their flag makes them safe from any threat, domestic or otherwise. Nearly every person in their gave me the willies...like we were in some sort of "dixie land nascar reunion". Ouch!

We are a nation of morons....and there are whole vast communities of "head up their ass" types. We truly are "#1"....with flay waving, patriotic-do-or-die (with somebody else's kid) red necks.
