Well, it depends. TYT is a 3 hour show, so it's not all straight hard-core news. Besides which, most people just don't seem to care about news these days.

Consider the fact that the TYT thread discussing (per the Washington Post) the terrible new FBI rules that allow them to spy on us in even more egregious ways doesn't have that many more views than this, despite being posted several hours earlier:

Think about that for a second, a story about tanning beds is getting almost as much attention as a story about the trampling of the Constitution. At any rate, I *do* happen to think there is a place for both.

Talking about the hard-core depressing stuff all day (while important) is very draining and often depressing and or infuriating. It's nice to lighten things up (again, especially in the context of a three hour show).
