New Obama Ad Hits McCain By Spotlighting Shuttered Factory In Pennsylvania

By Greg Sargent - September 17, 2008, 4:05PM

The Obama campaign keeps the focus on McCain and the economy by going local, spotlighting the plight of workers who were fired after a Corning plant closed in Pennsylvania...

How's this for a blast of ancient history: This Corning plant was actually also the subject of a mailer that Obama dropped during the campaign hitting Hillary for supporting normalizing trade relations with China.

The initial mailer was somewhat misleading, wrongly implying that Corning had shipped the jobs overseas. But the current spot doesn't repeat those errors, instead saying (accurately) that some of the workers were hired to ship the materials to China.

The ad is running in Pennsylvania and in other key states.

3. they should have been attacking Mr. Many Houses long ago
on his record, keep hitting back on his record. The last 30 years during Republican rule has been one big sell out of this country.

4. Focus, focus, focus - keep it on McCain and let the comedians deal with Palin
The kind of "change" McCain offers is that of a diaper - you're still going to end up with more shit in a short while.

Einstein is credited with saying "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result." While it would be entertaining to classify the majority of McCain zealots as insane, I think it is more just a case of stupidity.

6. Why don't you want them to say anything about the religiously insane?
I believe the American people deserve to know what radical shake up of the country Barracuda Palin
(or should I say Churchy Spice) has planned.

10. You don't want to alienate those who consider themselves religious
Pennsylvania has been described as Pittsburgh and Philadelphia with Alabama in between. Parts of Pennsylvania are called Pennsyltucky. There are a lot of religious folks there. Their Democratic senator is anti-abortion. The best place to hit McCain is the economy and jobs.

And in every attack ad, the Obama campaign has to keep saying more of the same, more of the same, more of the same, more of the same.

I like it. Sad that it had to get to this point, but "politics ain't beanbag".

If we lose this one, it won't be for lack of a fight.
