Except for Andrew Sullivan being bitchy. She's 10 times smarter than you, Andrew, listen and learn.

1. She didn't get much of a chance - Sullivan wouldn't STFU
And Maher exerts no control at all over mouthy assholes like him. Although he sorta redeemed himself later with his remarks about Palin.

3. That's the problem with Maher's show
He ALWAYS has a mouthy conservative schooled in debate by volume on the show, who just won't let anyone else get a word in edgewise. In looking for people with other points of view, he finds ones who inhibit discourse as they go LALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALA over someone trying to explain their thesis (as Ms. Klien was almost about to do).

2. Once again, a conservative talking-head asshole
does everything to confuse, dilute and derail the topic at hand.

4. Sullivan has rightwingtard diarrhea mouth
yes I know he has tried to make amends for his foray over to the darkside, but he has swallowed the wingtard anarcho-capitalist 'libertarianisn' bullshit and refuses the let go of it.

He talked over everyone, which would be Klein as nobody else really had much to say, with his crap about how it is you and me who are to blame for investment banks making hundreds of billions in profits on mortgage securities that everyone in the investment community knew were worthless bubble nonsense deliberately encouraged by the government and the fed to stave off a politically unacceptable recession. Yes it is us working stiffs who wrecked wall street by taking their risky mortages that in the prior regulatory era would never have been permitted and that, back before we lost our minds and went free market fundamentalist, would have been only issued by actual banks backed by a government controlled mortgate system and not collected into a globally interlocked derivative market that would then collapse overnight. No, according to Sullivan, the source of the problem is you and me, and in the bizarre libertarian world of Paul, too much government regulation.

Naomi gave up trying to educate us about what is actually going on here. Instead we got the Sullivan Ron Paul is a genius version.

5. Something Ms. Klein might have elaborated on (given the time) is how
this will reach down to the state and local municipality level. Less federal tax dollars for public infrastructure repair and maintenance of water distribution systems, road work and public safety could see an influx of privatization here as well.

Then again, how fitting to have your city sewer system owned by Halliburton.

7. Her thesis is about how they will use this to push their privatization crap
She barely got into it. The trillion dollar bailout will be used by Gramps and the GOP to 'splain us why they can no longer pay their ss and medicare obligations and that instead we will get 'private' accounts that they will proceed to loot, and medical vouchers that will be a sick joke, pun intended.

First the shock, then the treatment. The treatment is all the shit that they could not get by us without the shock.

12. Examples: 9/11, The Iraq War
Sullivan is foolish not to see the pattern and to fall back on the "individual responsiblity" crap. The mortgage system is full of predators and people need a place to live. There should be something to protect them. A lot of the scams are perfectly legal.

6. ruling from the grave,. cheney/bush will leave quite a lagacy!
Edited on Sat Sep-20-08 08:57 AM by jph wacheski
yup,. this is just the set up for the coming 'new deal' of the free market fundies,. It is classic disaster making; first they (the Cheney/Bush PNAC Death Eater repugs) removed all regulations on the banking sector,. now they move the private debt onto the backs of our children,. next they will continuously clam that we just dont have the money fo fund any programs of social up-lift,. . and yet we MUST take on more privet debt or the 'system' will colapse,. .

I find it interesting that in all this coverage I keep hearing the phrase "Now is not the time to place blame." Oh, really? why the hell not? it was the repugs deragualtions and pretend free market (monopolistic corporte cqapitalism is anything but free) pushing that created this huge mess,. and it is the current repug administration that has/is buying all this private debt with the peoples money,. the peoples future money, as it will take years to get out of this, if ever,. the coming administration will have four years,. and their ability to change much of anything will have been already undermined by this current group of murderous pirates,. these PNAC and Cheney/Bush neo-con repug bastards should all be hung from their feet in a public square so the kids can throw stones and poke their eye out with pointy sticks,. just like the corupted and failed kings of old.

the media will continue to spin this in ways as to make the cause of what they are doing just a blur of confusing econimic mumbo jumbo,. . but really it is simple,. the econimic elite the pirate death eaters that run sht,. just robbed you, and your children,. . and they are curently setting the stage for much worse to come..,

watch the rest here; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snvUA_smXwo

9. Actually she didn't get a chance
Edited on Sat Sep-20-08 06:09 PM by Marie26
God, Andrew Sullivan is annoying - he might've repented of some Republican principles, but not the "talk-over-everyone-else-to-suppress-opposing-opinions" one.

10. Both right.
Actually, they were both right. People took advantage of a corrupt system at both ends--top and bottom.

Problem is the lack of morality among most americans.

11. Not really. Sullivan is greatly overemphasizing the individual's ability
to have an impact on the system. Most people will try to take advantage of any chance that comes their way. And most don't really understand the system. All they know is someone says to them: "Yes, you can have this house. There are great new ways to make this work." They don't know that the system itself is going to pull the rug out from under them. It is the responsibitly of our government and leaders to keep an eye on the system.

13. That obnoxious human being called andrew sullivan lives in a dream world.
He would be shocked to find out about all the other things in Naomi's book. It'd be classical "conservative becomes even dumber when presented with facts" phenomenon.

Don't know that guy too much but many people here say he was a total bush supporter until a while back... in my eyes that disqualifies him from being taken seriously.

And why does Maher always have to invite some sort of conservative idiot ( although sullivan is only 95% dumb ) on the show that ruins the whole discussion?!? I'd love a panel with Rushdie, Naomi Klein and Wolf and whoever else has a brain in use to discuss without some bully talking over them. Maher could interject the critique of this and that but the discussion would be civilized and reasonable, as opposed to what happens as soon as some sort of "conservative" comes on.
