In this scene from a fictional 2005 television show called "Commander and Chief" a woman vice president, totally unqualified, must take office after the president dies from a cerebral aneuryism. The Speaker of the House begs her to resign and appoint another president saying that her choice as vice president was "only a stunt."

Let us pray this is not prophetic.

1. The Character didn't SEEM unqualified

but it's a TV drama, of which I've seen precisely 4 minutes and 18 seconds, so what do I know?

2. In the show, the character turns out to be highly qualified . . .

A college president, among other things (and a spouse who later becomes Commissioner of Baseball, not secretary of the local snow machine club). Yes, it was a stunt, but they got someone of substance by accident.

And it was fiction.

and it was cancelled after about 6 episodes, IIRC.
