4. Privatization = Choice
The right has forever been using competition and consumer choice as a selling point for the privatization of entitlement programs. For Sen. McCain to suggest that we should do the same for social security is laughable especially since he links it to the good that diregulation has done for the banking indusrty. I also think that it is hypocritical for the government to legislate laws against pyrimid schemes since they've been running one for decades. The only difference is that they calls theirs social security.

5. Why did Joe Biden except this NO-DEBATE with Palin...
Democrats just keep giving in to the republican BS...
This will be a nothing debate and make Palin look like she is
something she isn't.
What can you possible to in the short of a time frame to find
out what one knows.
We know by the lies and BS she has already spread in her
speeches if that is what they are considered them to be , that
she knows nothing about nothing...
Americans citizens need to see just how inexperience she is
and does not have the ability to run the country if the old
man doesn't make it.

14. What do you think this is, a democracy?
Edited on Sun Sep-21-08 03:29 PM by ryanmuegge
Of course we peasants shouldn't be allowed to ask challenging questions from our lords. It's yet another thing the two major parties apparently agree on.

McCain has no clue about economics. Anybody who took a basic class on micro or macro economics knows more about the benefits (and necessity) of regulations than he does. And by benefits I mean that everybody is better off. I understand that not every sector is suitable for regulation, but some are, and health care definitely is one of them!
This is really BASIC stuff that McCain doesn't get.

McCobbler, stick to your last!

And for those who might think this just works fine "in theory", let me tell you that I live in Europe and if I told you how great social security works over here, you'd think I was making up stuff!
True, on average you do pay more taxes (how much depends on your income and other), but it is affordable since health insurance is obligatory for EVERYBODY. If you can't afford it, the government covers you anyway. This only works because everybody pays, regardless if they will ever need a doctor or not.
People over here don't run to the doctor and have expensive checkups and treatments done just because it's free. They just do this when they need to. Perhaps they would if they thought that the next government would put and end to social security, who knows? Just being able to completely rely on this system adds to the quality of life and makes up for the other stuff that may be "cooler" in the U.S.
Europe may not have the same military power as the U.S., but this does not mean that it is less effective... how many nuclear bombs are necessary to destroy the planet anyway? The "dis-profit" of overproduction is another concept McCain does not understand.
But he sure seems to understand the concept of creating a demand... for warfare.

Just my opinion.
