3. If Obama does not ask Paul Krugman to be one of his advisors then |
|
he is missing out on a very good thing.

With the massive amount of debt and problems facing Obama, he's got quite a bit of work cut out for him. I hope he's able to get all of the advisors he needs to help. It's going to be like that pile of shit in "Jurassic Park."

5. Wow, so we are about two flicks away from 1931? |
|
I can't believe that my parents are going to see TWO REPUBLICAN DRIVEN depresions in their lifetime!!!
Obama's vision to create infrastructure, new energies, cars, etc would very well be a way of redirecting the bailout effort. If you are bailing out the banks, you aren't getting to the heart of the issue - which is that nobody can aford this lifestyle anymore.
Maybe it won't be so bad, we will learn how to make bread and sew clothes again, eh?

My dad just passed away at age 91, and one thought I had was -- at least he didn't have to live through two depressions.

I mean, doesn't the Mafia ALWAYS "get the mo-ney?"
Some of these fat cats extorting money from the taxpayers need to be PAYING some taxes.
Never mind the baking bread and sewing clothes...been there done that. Wouldn't buy very much gas.

1. Why do I have to pay through tax dollars to ensure that your 401k doesn't take a BIG FALL? You want to GAMBLE you take the loss. I don't help GAMBLERS who loose their money!
2. Look if this is truly about Businesses and Future Homeowners being able to get loans, WHY NOT Start a new agency that will loan the money to those who need it if they qualify instead of giving it to Businesses that have managed poorly. Since we now own Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac why not make Fannie Mae for homes and Freddie Mac for businesses and those two use the TRILLION DOLLARS for loans. No BAILOUTS for Businesses. Loans Yes Bailouts NO if they qualify!!!!!!!. BAILOUT HOMEOWNERS that need the help if they qualify ONLY.

You can't help regular people who are at risk of losing their homes! That's socialism! It's only not socialism if they're CEOs of big corporations. Then you can back the armored trucks up to the treasury doors and hand over the key. Get it now?

18. Bad trade policy and deregulation of the financial markets caused all of this shit. |
|
And Krugman is the only one in the mainstream connecting trade policy to it.

16. reagan started this ball unraveling |
|
like a ball of yarn; when it is large it unravels slowly but as the ball gets smaller the rate of unraveling increases dramatically. we are very close to the end of the ball.

17. Several years ago here on DU |
|
there would be the occasional post discussing which President was the worst one ever. Everyone old enough to remember the Reagan years well said, pretty much to a person, that he was the Worst One Ever until W came along.
And sadly, Reagan remains Saint Ronnie to far too many people.
