The International Whaling Commission met in secret last week in St. Petersburg Florida, chaired by Professor Hogarth of Marine Sciences. It looks as though the Bush Administration is working with Japan to remove the ban and allow full scale whaling to resume by Japan.

1. there are so many issues I feel like I should be paying attention to and fighting for

it's overwhelming :(

I used to give money to environmental groups and had to cut back a few years ago when I lost my job. Lately I've been giving to Biden and then Obama campaigns even though I'd rather be able to give to environmental groups, local food banks, etc. etc. I'm hoping once we fix the national office I can go back to worrying about other things!

to be informed about. I am learning more about whaling since becoming a big fan of Sea Shepherd.

I used to belong to Defenders of Wildlife and they do some work on marine mammals if I remember correctly. Lots to do...
