I have to laugh

The NRA actually expects people who are wondering whether their retirement savings will still be around in six weeks to be consumed with whether this sweaty-looking bastard can afford a tax on his damn guns and ammo??? Are they for real?

Seriously. Are they for real????

they made these specifically for stupid rednecks, judging by the dumbed-down nature of them.

On another note, I was watching Discovery HD last night, and mccrap was running an ad. I thought to myself, who's he trying to address here? I'm not sure rednecks even know what the Discovery Channel is.

Kind of a waste of money if you ask me. Anyone who watches Discovery surely has an attention span longer than a gnat, and knows mccrap is a lying gasbag of shit.

Fuck those ignorant, gun-toting redneck hicks. A real man doesnt need a gun to solve any of his problems, and that ad is a pack of lies. No one is trying to take away hunting rifles and shotguns. It is the large-magazine, semi-automatic assault rifles that are in question. And if you need an AR-15 to successfully hunt deer, you should be buying your venison at the supermarket.

38. Around where I live, your NRA-types like to think they're he-man hunters.
But, here's how they "hunt." They'll gather a pack of men. Part of the group will enter a wooded area hoping to flush out any deer. The rest of the pack will wait on the other side of the woods ready to blast the deer.

That's not real hunting in my opinion.

Then you have the Sarah Palin-types who blast wildlife from a helicopter.

57. More Americans own "assault weapons" than hunt.
Only ~1 in 5 U.S. gun owners is a hunter. The vast majority of gun owners are nonhunters, and "assault weapons" are the most popular centerfire target rifles and defensive carbines in U.S. homes, which is why the "assault weapon" issue generates so much pushback.

FWIW, AR-15's in .223 Remington (most common) are too underpowered to hunt deer. They are suitable for hunting groundhogs and prairie dogs, up to possibly coyote sized animals (they're centerfire .22's, after all). They do dominate centerfire target shooting in the United States, though, since large caliber is not required when shooting paper.

I wrote the following in '04, and I think it was largely vindicated in the '06 wins. I think it is very relevant this year:

Dems and the Gun Issue - Now What?

The NRA is spending 40 million dollars to help Mc Cain win this election. We all know that John Mc Cain has already scored a whopping F - from the gun owners of America for his voting record! Here is the record: GOA: http://www.gunowners.org/mccaintb.htm

What better way to use "FEAR" to gain memberships? Sad thing is the dumb asses keep falling for it!

Here is the article about the "blitz" the NRA has out on Obama from Politico: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0608/11452.html

Here is what Obama says about gun owning: http://www.barackobama.com/pdf/issues/additional/Obama_FactSheet_Western_Sportsmen.pdf

Seriously, when has that happened?

The NRA is nothing but an extremist right wing organization that wants Republicans elected regardless of what they stand for.

The NRA is so damned worried about losing their right to use a bazooka to hunt squirrels that they can't see the politicians they've supported have systematically stripped away their other civil rights.

44. I agree the NRA is nothing more than an
arm of the Republicon party. Didn't the Supreme Court just recently confirm the right to bear arms? The problem is if you talk to a redneck they will tell you they are a Democrats. They raise hell about the people with money, the oil companies, the price of gas, the golden parachutes and executive pay. But the Republicons manage to scare them into voting Republicon every time. They take an issue like gay marriage that changes some, the abortion issue changes some, the gun issue changes some, the envinmentalists change some. You add them all up and walla you elect a Republicon. I remember a few years ago watching one of the Repubilcon campaign strategists explain how they won the election in 2000, he called it multiplying by dividing.

not hunting weapons. Only ~1 in 5 U.S. gun owners hunts, and most hunters also own nonhunting guns.

You do not have to agree with gun ownership, but it helps to at least understand the demographics of it. Roughly half of U.S. gun owners registered to vote are Dems and indies, and hunting is largely irrelevant.

FWIW, I like Obama, but passing another "assault weapon" fraud would be a big mistake, IMO. We do NOT need another 1994 in 2010.

50. Get the Facts? Get Real
Crabbie Karl Rusch is pumping gas with a cost per gallon at $3.80. That is a stretch in VA where the highest prices are in the Northern Virginia area due to a metro tax. A quick look at hunting country (Staunton, VA) prices (http://www.virginiagasprices.com/Staunton/index.aspx) show that its more like $3.49 and nowhere is it higher than $3.79. That must be the reason why the NRA used another pump to show the price being so high. Re-roll the video and you will notice that the pump showing prices is not even the same pump that Karlie Boy is using to pump the gas into his badass truck. And how about when he puts on that bumper sticker. His hands shrink several sizes and he loses his gun gloves instantaneously. Obviously a very cheaply made commercial. I do agree that we should all get the facts. In this case, the facts shown are strictly NRA BS.

56. Take Away Your Gun?
The spin on this is so funny. Do these hunters really think the Democrats want to take away their guns. The Republicans go after these one issue voters and unfortunately it works. All they have to say is the Democrats want to take away your guns and they get their vote. Too simple for them. I wish the gun owners and hunters would spend half as much time doing research as they do campaigning on this issue. It's more about banning weapons nobody needs and waiting periods so they can do more thorough background checks. Wake up, it's for your own protection. How can you be worried about a little tax when your your paying the prices you are at the gas pump. Why aren't you mad that the Bush oil buddies are raking in billions of profits? Such a double standard. One side is trying to protect you and the other is robbing you blind.
