The McCain campaign continues to keep a bubble around Sarah Palin, refusing to allow the press or voters to ask her questions for fear her lack of domestic and foreign policy knowledge becomes more evident.

Denying press coverage for such an event is undemocratic!

VIA AP:

NEW YORK - Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, who has not held a press conference in nearly four weeks of campaigning, on Tuesday banned reporters from her first meetings with world leaders, allowing access only to photographers and a television crew.

CNN, which was providing the television coverage for news organizations, decided to pull its TV crew, effectively denying Palin the high visibility she had sought.

3. If they keep comparing her chats with "world leaders" in the hallways of the UN...
...as comparable to Obama's speech in Berlin, then I say drop her down in Berlin and have her address an outdoor crowd at the Brandenburg Gate. Until that time, shut up about the comparison...

4. And THAT, my dear friends, is how you play this game
She does not get to dictate who can and can't cover her... and she MUST take questions from the press. If she chooses to not take questions from the press, then the press should not grant her one second of coverage. This is the first steps towards dictatorship--muzzling the press. Good for
CNN to not cover her--the rest of the "news" organizations should do the exact same thing, instead of going along with her plan of sneaking her crazy ass into the VP position on her terms alone.

6. Uh, media whores, Bill Clinton spent two years at Oxford...
...and in case you didn't know, that's in England. I would say anyone who spent two years in a foreign country has a lot more foreign policy experience than someone who claims to see Russia from her front yard.

Oh, yeah, there was the stopover in Ireland to refuel, too. I forgot that...

I've seen him in the press pool asking some tough questions with follow-ups to some high profile people. He gets ignored, but he does a good job nonetheless

10. We DEFINITELY need to e-mail CNN and PRAISE THEM FOR THIS! Make them an ally!
Maybe if we praise them AND encourage them to "get to the bottom" of whatever she is trying to hide, they will do it!

12. How is Sarah able to meet with world leaders when she is unable
to hold a debate or meeting with our news media.
Why would the news media cover her photo ops with world
leaders when she refuses to answer questions from they.
Hell she is unable to hold a debate with Biden , unless the
rules are so we is sheltered from answering any serious
questions..
Republican BS never stops , but the news media all ways makes
it work..

I am going to e-mail CNN and thank them for this decision and encourage them to withhold coverage until she agrees to meet the press for questions (not scripted).

20. He is following Obama's lead
Obama has agreed to meet with leaders of countries, even those which are bent on destroying the the US. Bono's meeting with Palin is simply following the same model.

27. Welcome to DU!
Your point is on the money. A vote for McCain is like saying you WANT Sarah (I shook hands with a foreigner once!) Palin for President. A truly NIGHTMAREISH thought! :scared:

23. Hey, Don't be so hard on Palin. At least she tried!
I can picture it right now...Members of the campaign probably dressed up as each of the world leaders and rehearsed pretend meetings. (I am sure that you can find costumes for all of them, especially now that Halloween is near). At some point, they had to come to the conclusion that there is no possible way that coverage of this event could be a good thing. Look at what happened after she had her first interview after weeks of cramming a pretty fixed set of questions. If she can screw that up, it doesn't matter how many times Rick Davis dresses up as Henry Kissinger and drills her (with questions, of course ;) ).

If you were the campaign, you would fight any coverage as well. Why? Because this will highlight a major difference between Palin and Obama, showing that substance trumps experience. Without coverage, the right wing talking tools can say, "See, they both can met with world leaders". But with coverage, you can see that there is a difference between giving speeches to a crowd of 100,000+ and meeting world leaders at the UN over a period of 30 hours.

25. I would do anything to be
a fly on the wall when these guys get together afterward and talk about Palin. I can just imagine what they're saying. There are members of the housekeeping staff at the UN who know more about international relations than Palin does. They won't say it in public, of course, but I'd love to hear what they're saying to each other in private.
