2. This ad is somewhat petty. A few more like this and it'll blow up in our faces.

7. I think it's a very effective ad. Aside from the fact that he owns
foreign cars, the ad proves that

McCain lies with a straight face

or

He can't remember what kind of cars he owns.

8. how many people you know have 13 cars? Totally relevant in my view.
The Republicans want to say that McFail is just regular guy. Like, my ass, he's a regular guy.

15. I agree but I think this is actually more of a "press release" they don't really run
ads like this but get the media to play them for free

16. 3 cars out of 13 is going to end up on factcheck.com
and it will look bad for Obama because it will be painted in the light that he is stretching the truth. Not that McCain hasn't done 5x worse, but the repub machine will march all over the place waving it as a distortion.

20. Concur. Petty. Won't fly around here. Might backfire.
Too many foreign cars are made here.
Three? Sounds rediculous. That means the rest are domestic.

5. I liked that they showed McC voted against loan guarantees for the auto industry.
That's probably more important, but nice to know all of his "fleet" isn't American.

9. actually I think the other ad would be better...the 'risk we can't afford to take' ad.
this one isn't going to be as effective. IMHO

11. What's with the safety goggles?
I hope that the Democrats will return some sanity to American life. I can understand that the workplace can be dangerous, WHEN THERE IS WORK GOING ON, but a receiving line for a Presidential candidate when the machines are shut down is not one of those situations.

Besides Republican economics and foreign policy, I hope the Democrats will roll back Republican fascism in other areas, such as omnipresent badges and security checks, "zero-tolerance" idiocy, flag idolatry at the drop of a hat, worship of authority figures no matter how stupid the person in authority is. /rant off

13. I dunno. I usually love all of Obama's ads, but this one doesn't quite measure up.
All it needed to do was talk about McCain's non-support, legislatively, for the car industry.

McCain's 13 cars doesn't have the same impact as McCain not knowing how many homes he lives in.

19. Facts are facts. A TV ad is just a way to get the facts out. It is ugly, but truth has to be said. n

22. A clunker
The foreign/domestic split is nowhere near as clean as it once was. A version of this ad that addressed what McCain did (or did not do) for the auto industry would work, but picking at the ownership of "foreign" cars doesn't really make a lot of sense. Did I miss a line where McCain said he never bought foreign cars? I don't think it's dishonest to say you buy American cars if you have 10 (!!!) of them and they far outnumber foreign models, unless you explicitly said you do NOT buy foreign makes.

I was raised on auto industry employment and I don't think this would fly in Michigan these days. Maybe 20 years ago, but not now.
