2. Wow. Wasn't that brilliant! It begs the question, why are Paulson and Bernanke still in office? |

They have proved as unreliable as the corporations they've been seeking to bail out with tax dollars.
Well, that's the wrong way round, isn't it? Those corporations have proved unreliable precisely because Paulson and Bernanke and their like-minded friends repeatedly proved to be unreliable. Now they are again proferring their advice to Congress on how to stabilise their banking friends and the economy!
Trouble is, most of us don't believe they're poachers turned gamekeepers. Just poachers. I've never heard the exression, "Set a thief to protect a thief, before". And it's a lesson I'll pass on if you don't mind (and I don't mean, "to others"). And even if you do, if it comes to that.

7. He will get a call of appreciation from me tomorrow, and I am from PA |
|
I was on the phone to members of Congress (offices) for a good part of the day. DeFazio's speech said a lot of the same things that I said. A response from my Congressman's office, Robert Brady, was great. The nice woman on the phone basically said that it was great to hear that someone from the general public saw and under stood what was going on. I have Hope.

8. I watched the 1st part of Pete's speech |
|
on last night's late night news. In the beginning, he came out w/a large skeleton key saying We, the People would be giving the key to our economy to the fuckers that had destroyed it. (It was a great prop, but he din't say fuckers. lol )
I am so proud of the Dems that are speaking out loudly about this mess....... DeFazio, McDermott, Sanders, Dodd and Obama.

11. Peter DeFazio is one of the most patriotic politicians |

On a scale of Wellstone. He represents the district where I lived. With any luck, he will again. :loveya:

12. WOW!!! That's my Congressman in action. |
|
well, at least he's from Oregon, but technically I don't live inside his district anymore ...
but I did for decades, and Peter has some gonads, and an awesome staff.
If you remember, DeFazio's the one Congressperson who held the Bush Admin.'s feet to the fire about getting access to review the ugly "classified" sections of NSPD-51, Bush's plan to take over the Gov't, declare martial law, etc. to the exclusion of Congress and the Courts.
I don't think he EVER DID get access, but it wasn't because Peter was quiet about it. He raised quite a ruckas ... for a few months at least.
