the importance of johnny with couric--was he just curious about her lipstick?

11. The CBS interview with Couric was better for McCain in several ways --

He is one-on-one with Couric instead of in front of a live audience of citizens who might be unenthusiastic. Plus, more people watch the CBS Evening News than David Letterman.

Did you hear David say that when McCain called to cancel he said that he would be willing to do the show sometime again soon and bring along Sarah Palin? I really think he was afraid of encountering a cold audience.
