Granted, Palin should not have accepted his offer of VP, but I don't think the woman had a clue (obviously) of what she was getting into. McCain knew better, but he really doesn't give a shit about anyone but himself. He's used her, and may very well have ruined her. I think the people of Alaska would accept her back knowing that it was McCain and his corrupt camp that were behind all this shit. Then again, I probably should reserve judgment. There's is a possibility the 'pubs will steal this and within a couple of years, we'll have the scariest world leader in history. I don't underestimate what that much power could do to a not-so-bright human being. I hope to hell I'm wrong about the election theft possibility--I hate even bringing it up, because my blood runs cold at the mere thought.

20. It won't be theft if Obama votes yes on the bailout and McCain votes no. |
|
Can't say what will happen if they both vote yes. From what he's been saying it appears unlikely that Obama will vote no but I sure wish he would. Since they go alphabetically McCain should have to vote first.

6. I think she may surprise us all during the debate. I put nothing past my opponents. I saw her |
|
debates for Gov. in Alaska and the format that the O-team has agreed to seems to benefit Palin and play to the same kind of format she is used to. What if this is just another stunt by McCain and his team? Make her look so stupid and then she goes to the debate and does a fantastic job. The following day there will be comments like, "we knew she could do it", "we had confidence in her all the time", "The Obama team are sexist for underestimating her", etc...
I am going to wait until she falls flat before I jump for joy. I am also a little scared because even though I like Joe Biden, he is gaffe prone and he has a history of just not preparing for debates.

gaffe.
This thing is exaggerated. Biden is not more gaffe prone than anyone else.

19. They always focus on Biden's gaffes, but McCain and Palin are both far more gaffe prone |
|
Honestly Biden is not all that gaffe prone. Yes, he has said a few things that have not came off well but his gaffes are really not that frequent. When someone is constantly giving interviews and answering tough questions they are bound to screw up once in a while.
But for McCain and Palin it goes beyond the occasional gaffe, they keep screwing up time and time again and they don't learn from their mistakes. It seems like every time one of them is seen in public they say something to show just how utterly clueless they are. Why does everyone focus on how gaffe-prone Biden is when his opponents make literally probably ten times the number of gaffes that he does?

9. You are absolutely correct and thanks for pointing that out. If you |
|
remember how this all started.... Nobody knew anything about her when she gave her convention speech and what they did know about her was a complete shock to everybody. She was under investigation, had no experience, no foreign relations knowledge, an unwed pregnant teen daughter on her 2nd child, etc. As soon as she read a speech from a teleprompter, the entire world changed. All of a sudden, McCain became a genius for picking her and everything else about her background became irrelevant. We have the same situation here. She has had 2+ weeks to be coached by absolute experts on many levels. They can coach her based on her weaknesses demonstrated up to now so that she can do well for an hour long debate.
The way I see it, she has two huge advantages.
Advantage 1: Low expectations. The bar is set just so low for her that she doesn't have to jump very high. Everybody is expecting her to give perhaps the worst debate performance in the history of debates. Those are some pretty low expectations and if she jumps (or steps) over that bar, the debate was a huge success for her and they can shield her from the press completely until the election.
Advantage 2: Disregard for the truth She has no issue at all with lying her ass off. Remember, she is the one that has been lying about the Bridge to nowhere, with full knowledge that the entire world knows with absolute certainty that it is a lie. Sadly, most people don't care about factcheck.org with respect to the debate. The ones that do care have already made decisions. Assuming that your candidate can blatantly lie and that people will see factcheck.org afterward and change their opinion is probably not a safe bet.
So, in short, if I had the world's best debate coaches helping me for weeks on end and if I could just make things up at a debate when I got into a jam regardless of if they are true or not, I might survive a debate as well.
Personally, I would love to see nothing short of an epic fail and really hope that happens. I expect it as well, but like you, I am going to wait to see her fall flat before I get too excited.

21. The McCain camp isn't smart enough to pull a stunt like that & even if they were, |
|
Palin's not smart enough to pull it off.
If she could do anything other than read a speech from a teleprompter, they would have had her in front of the media 24x7! Instead, they've pissed the media off by sequestering her from them. She was not playing dumb with Gibson & Couric. She's in over her head, although she may be too vacuous to realize it.

22. Don't give this fucking idiot any credit. She has zero substance whatsoever on her own merits |
|
I have no doubt, though, that the corporate media will say that she destroyed Biden and that she surprised everybody against all odds and so forth. In terms of what actually happened, she'll look like the same fucking idiot she always does. It is the "analysis" by the tabloid reporters that will change, and public opinion will certainly follow.
She's just some fucking clown with a BA in journalism who got elected mayor of a meaningless town because of her crazy views and then elected governor because of opportunism.
She's a fucking joke on her own merits.

24. Her entire world until a month ago was ALASKA. She has no clue or interest in |
|
world affairs at all and it shows. They thought they could "cram" it into her but she can't do it.
It's one thing to debate about things in your own neighborhood. Even as of 2006 she hadn't "focused" on Iraq by her own admission because she was "focused on Alaska." She's got an AIP mindset and they can't cram any kind of coherent worldview into her in one month.
The Alaska Gov debates have nothing to do with the Vice Presidential debates. She's simply in way over her head.

I hope this decision of McCain's is what finally brings his campaign to a screeching halt.
That said, I'd like Biden and Obama to at some point bring up health care by saying, "Senator McCain, are you aware that you are now uninsurable due to your prior cancers?" I think that would be legit.

people are plain losing sight that Palin is NOT QUALIFIED for VP. Two years ago at this time she was mayor of a podunk town in the most podunk state in the union. If her recent interviews have not pointed it out, she knows little about the job of VP and the major resposibilities of being President in the event she becomes President.
