5. Exactly - Paul's ideology would make this exponentially worse
Exponentially

Paul would Privatize almost everything. So his parasitic Fascist buddies could drain us even faster.

Paul is the Broken Clock Syndrome - Other than Iraq and the Fed he can crawl back under that rock.

Fuck Ron Paul

9. Except I'm not sure that Paul is really chums with those who would benefit most.
I think he's just a libertarian ideologue.

14. Sorry, but Paul has been blasting the Federal Reserve for years now
The problem is that the Republican Party has taken a semi-conservative approach that is much more reckless and dangerous than Paul's approach. I came to respect Ron Paul because he exposed John McCain for the fraud that he is during the Republican primary season. That's when FOX News and some other Republicans decided to label him a 9/11-truther to try to keep his message about McCain's utter incompetence about the economy and belligerent foreign policy off the TV.

For an idiot who blathers on, hyping fear with dire predictions of "worthless assets". He is throwing gasoline on a brush fire, when he should shut up, grab a shovel and help everyone who is digging fire breaks and throwing dirt on flare-ups.

Notice that he took a dig at the Bretton Woods agreement, something that stabilized currencies after World War II, much to the displeasure of the free market capitalists that wanted the old roller coaster to start up again.

He has the same problem as all "intelligent" conservatives; he's bought into a set of faulty dogma, and he views the world through shit-colored glasses. If only we hewed more closely to the dogma, then everything would work out all right and the brown tint would disappear. It hasn't occurred to him to take the glasses off in the first place. If only we had free markets in insurance and no regulation of health care; then there would be no uninsured and no crisis. He is incapable of realizing that his precious unregulated market is EXACTLY what caused the problem.

He is a trainable moron, nothing more. He can learn and appear to function as a thinking human being, but when it come to a choice of dogma vs. reason, he opts for the stupid every time. :dunce:

10. You hit the nail on the head. Paul's a religious fanatic, and his religion is the market.
Edited on Sun Sep-28-08 11:37 AM by calmblueocean
He's fundamentally incapable of acknowledging that the reason we're in this mess is BECAUSE of the market. Imagine what would be going on right now if Paul were president! The entire financial infrastructure would collapse, and he would sit there and do nothing, because that's what his "religious" beliefs tell him to do.

You hit the nail on the head with your post.
Aside: This is anecdotal, but it has definitely biased me. I know a few Ron Paul supporters from the right. Get a few beers in these guys and you can see the mask slip-it is amazing how soon they start throwing out eugenics, talking about those "black single-moms on welfare", "the joos" etc. Generally most Ron Paul supporters I know are scary people -racist, anti-semitic people who have that almost mystical belief in the free markets.

That guy and his "movement" scare me. That movement seems to consist of free-market mystics, racists, anti-semites and the most tiring kind of conspiracy theorists (the kind of semi-literate morons who think the joos, the commies and the federal reserve are conspiring to end the world, the UN and the New World Order want to take our monies etc. etc.). It is pathetic...

7. Ron Paul champions the DEATH of middle class America.
He opposes EVERY middle class protection that people have fought and died for since the Great Depression.

He vehemently opposes unions and the right to organize. He opposes government protection of unions(what little protection is left that is).

He vehemently opposes any minimum wage standard. He opposes the theory of a living wage.

He opposes all hate crimes legislation and current laws on our books.

He is a bigoted homophobe with ties to white supremicists.

He opposes public education and thinks of it as a government boondoggle.

He champions the repeal of the 16th amendment and opposes progressive taxation. He champions further shifting of the tax burden to the middle class and poor.

He virtually opposes ALL forms of government regulation.

Civil Libetarian my f***ing ass.

Rated 38% by HRC.
Rated 39% by NAACP.
Rated 67% by ACLU. (A piss poor rating for anyone who claims to be a Libetarian)

He claims that abortion is murder.

How can any liberal respect this fascist is beyond me. I understand that not everyone knows the facts about Ron Paul but c'mon people. Use this wonderful tool called the internet to do some research.

Ron Paul is a fascist of the most dangerous type.

Peace.

8. A few more tidbits on RP...
He wants to abolish Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid. Some of America's most successful govt programs.

He thinks America's current health care disgrace that kills 18,000 annually due to inability to afford health care is A-OK.

He supports further deregs of the health care industry and the ponzi scheme known as health insurance.

He vehemently opposes universal healthcare or any form of govt assistance for health care.

13. Thanks for the background info on Ron Paul
He's much favored by health groups because he objects to restrictions on health supplements ... and, on that subject, you should all check into the restrictions that are being sought before the FDA and USDA by big companies during the closing days of the Bush administration, because Paul is right about that danger.

But certainly looks as if he is wrong about everything else ...

So, thanks all for the heads up.

15. well
Ron Paul's assessment of the underlying problem is definitely accurate and you could even say that he was prophetic since he's been calling attention to this problem for years.

It's just too bad that his stance on the possible solutions are from the koo koo land..
