On This Week with George Stephanapoulos, John McCain stated that Sarah Palin's recent statement that we should "absolutely" cross the the border from Afghanistan into Pakistan to stop the "terrorists from coming further in" is not a McCain campaign policy statement.

On the day of the Presidential debate, Sarah Palin made a statement that is in agreement with Obama's position on Afghanistan, one in which McCain called Obama out for during the debate.

Reporter: "So do we cross the border, like from Afghanistan to Pakistan, you think?"

PALIN: "If that's what we have to do to stop the terrorists from coming any further in, absolutely."

7. I'm sure he's taking it seriously, he's hoping YOU will laugh it off though.
They're keeping Palin away from reporters because she can't open her mouth without screwing up. She's a walking gaffe, a trophy, a token.

10. Crisis Continued
McCain is clearly upset by the post-debate criticism he received. He has chosen to pretend that it doesn't exist, and now also that Palin basically doesn't exist. He is going to play the Angry Ostrich role until the media stops asking him about his failings. I don't know when that will happen (it won't, I hope), but McCain can't deal with reality at the moment.

Keep stewing, John. It's delightful to watch.

18. I believe that Sarah Palin is setting women back
Edited on Sun Sep-28-08 11:07 AM by Doodler71
Instead of being a progressive move forward putting a woman into a position of leadership and authority by merit or earned success, she is being placed into a situation that highlights her naivete, inexperience and being out of her league by chauvinistic males trying to exploit her.

It's like putting a kindergartner in an AP English class when they just learned how to read two weeks ago.

It's not funny. It's highly condecending and an insult to all the women who have worked hard and deserve the rewards of experience and paying their dues along the way.

Everyone knows Sarah Palin has no place being a major party nominee. She was placed there purely as one of these big attention getting moves. It sets women back because it sends the message that you don't have to work or earn your rewards... you just have to wait for the right man to put you into the job.

16. So, why did she say it, McCain?
Regardless if it's a private conversation, why did she say it?

You hear gaffe after gaffe from McClown and Caribou Barbie, and yet, I see more McCain/Palin signs around my area. And you can't tell me that most of those people are better off now than they were eight years ago. Yet, they want another four years of the bullshit that deteriorated their standard of living.

8. To Sum Up
"We, McCain-Palin, don't think what we say ought to be taken seriously. We think that our public remarks should not be recorded or transcribed or scrutinized. In fact, they mean nothing. There is no meaning to anything we say. Except what we're saying right....now. Forget all the other stuff from before. THIS is the only word that matters. This one. No, wait...this one. You know what? We're just going to stop talking. Right now. Now. OK, for reals...now."

11. The old fart is going to regret ...for the rest of his life....selecting this "hockey mom" for vp...
An idiot does as an idiot knows. We are talking about the fifth from the bottom of his graduating class. This old prick is a joke...and the nation is seeing this play out.

Unfortunately for us, 45% of this nation are "jokes" when it comes to thinking of what is best for the nation.

Obama is going to screw up. He is NOT going to solve this HUGE mess that "the decider" f*cked over, but it will at least be a start in the right direction.

Be ready to hold on, cause the right wing is going to be crying, kicking and screaming all the way. They love their 401's more than their country...ANY DAY!!

12. So, first McCain doesn't speak for the campaign
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtuTnk5hjcU
and now Palin doesn't speak for the campaign either.

Maybe that's what they mean by maverick - the two people on the ticket not representing or speaking for their own campaign.

How wacko can they get?

13. Sickening prospect
This has probably been posted elsewhere (and often!) because you guys are so active on these boards the topics just FLY by... but...

I'm beginning to think (yes, I was BORN suspicious) that about a week before the Big Day, Palin is going to call a major press conference and announce that she's withdrawing from the ticket. Family obligations that absolutely must come before career goals, etc (something designed to make sure she has some sort of future within the GOP).

Then McCain will tap either Romney or Giuliani to "save the day in the GOP's hour of need." Then... The Bounce.

Anyone else out there as paranoid as I am?

Should the Obama campaign be prepared for this unlikely event? :-(

After they steal the election, the war hero mysteriously chokes on a bagel, and the Mean GRRRRRL is in the driver's seat, parking the Jesus Bus on the White House lawn and calling in air strikes on Tehran.

'Cause God needs our help bringin about teh Armageddon, dontcha know!

15. A couple thoughts here
I can see that if he becomes president we won't know a thing until after it happend. I can see that McCain getting very aggitated with Sarah or Nervous about what she is saying. It looked like he was about to lose it. That is the way to go. See if Mccain can lose his tempor . If we wins, we all lose. right down to the new born babies. KH

25. 'To announce you're gonna attack a country is not a mature way to address the issue.'
Isn't this the same guy who sang, 'Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb-bomb Iran' not long ago?

The hypocrisy is unreal.

McCain will say and do absolutely anything to get elected!

31. Don't announce it?
Exsqueeze me, but if you don't let Pakistan know, as we did Afghaniztan, that if they don't take action against a force that is a significant threat to the United States, we will be left with no choice but to do so ourselves would be "foolish".

Announcing our intentions might give Pakistan "incentive" to do what we implore. Rocket science? Even Sarah Palin knows that McSame! (Okay, she probably didn't go that far into her thinking, but whatever)
