I posted photos from this rally earlier today, just came across the video.

what an awesome campaign speech here, he gets more fiery the wetter he gets!
the ending is awesome, and gave me goosebumps.

20. He's only going to pick up speed now...he's running down hill.
That was a great speech. It seemed like the rain only got the crowd more fired up.

That's the first I've heard him speak since the debate. He's doing a great job of leveraging McCain's blunders.

24. I can attest to the fact that "the rain was REAL" - we were soaking wet for hours.
Edited on Sun Sep-28-08 06:07 PM by ShortnFiery
People were scurrying babies and small toddlers underneath umbrellas of complete but compassionate strangers. Thank goodness I had $5 bucks at the ready to buy an Obama/Biden ball cap as it was hard to see with all that rain falling on my glasses. We were warm because there were "as many" of us scattered around the core 25,000 (turned away) from the event huddled together and listening to these two men of high intelligence and irrefutable integrity. I'll remember this for the rest of my life as will my husband and teenage daughter.

18. I thought it was the best I'd seen since the Primaries...
he blended his Inspirational style (my hubby said he sounded like a preacher) with his Informative style. He can really work up a crowd! I sure hope he continues this way throughout the rest of the campaign!

13. JFK was phenomenal,
yet I cannot compare Obama to JFK, nor MLK.

Obama is Obama. At this point I cannot compare him to anyone. I feel like he's growing and evolving in front of our eyes.

I am so enjoying this. I simply can't seem to get enough.

10. I have not been this inspired in ANYONE
he really just made me weep!
...
I love how he thinks on his feet and blends in the rain and the metaphor of a new day...and what WE can achieve and create as a new generation.

He is an orator, he is a leader, he leads by example, so does Joe Biden.
January will be brighter, even in the depths of winter!!!!!

My wife and oldest kid were there, but were too far away too see the podium.
We just watched it together. Powewrful.
That has got to be the biggest crowd Fredricksburg has ever seen for anything.

GO OBAMA!

16. Wow
I wonder how bad McWorse feels when he sees something like this... Do they really expect stunts and sideshows (soon to be anounced wedding of that pregnant daughter before the election) will get them votes?

Also does McWorse's handlers look at this and go, "we are so screwed"?

I just would love to honestly hear what the other side thinks..

22. Fredericksburg, Va is "Deer unting With Jesus" country
The people that Joe Bageant and Jim Webb write about - Scotts Irish who vote Republican no matter what. Obama went into a part of the country that's very difficult for Dems to win. He's not giving up on anyone.

26. Gates opened at 3 PM but there were people waiting in line since 7 AM.
Edited on Sun Sep-28-08 06:30 PM by ShortnFiery
How I wish that they had a larger venue. However, at the last few minutes of Obama's speech, my daughter and I were able to push through to the front of the barricades and catch "glimpses" of Barack Obama. OMG that was so beautiful. A few people with "the zoom" feature on their cell phones were able to snag a picture.

Oh yes. I'm taking ZiCam today because I did not anticipate the rain and I feel a cold coming on. However, the kindness of people was awesome. People were handing out large garbage bags which we secured around our body in order to stave off the chill. I fear that the 70 something woman who was next to me in line was taken home by her family. It's sad, but no reason for the elderly to risk getting ill.

I drone on, but yes, I'm so glad that we went! My husband was kind enough to drop us off at 2 PM and we caught up with him afterwards. He was in a position to hear both Biden and Obama.

Thanks for asking. :-) :hi:

29. I could safely say with conviction that there were "as many" people outside the barracades as within
which would make the total number 50,000. The line was ten people deep and seemingly wrapped all around The University of Mary Washington campus as well as many of the side streets of Fredericksburg. Yes, it's feasible that there were 50,000 people total there and the majority of us mostly "heard" the speech. We wiggled and waited and finally were able to get five rows in back of the barricades. All of this through five hours of, off and on, (mostly ON) pouring rain.

35. I wish I could recommend more than once - more powerful than even his acceptance speech.
..."not eight more years, not four more years, not one more year of this NONSENSE!" -- one of my favorite lines from this. I watched this four times today.
