6. He has a reason, a "real" job that pays big bucks. What legit reason could those
"poor old people" possibly have for voting early? Hell, why are we providing them polling places at all!

13. arrogant ass is right..
I played this vid three times to make sure my ears were not playing tricks on my tired brain cells.. "early voting is wrong" "early voting has got to end" "crowded with a bunch of old people who didn't need to.." (vote?) "I voted early because I have an excuse" but these old people don't need to vote..

It occurs to me Fox actually has an important role in the current political "discourse" ... they unabashedly expose their elitist, racist, sexist, misogynist arrogant asses, completely. ugh.

Any and all citizens should be afforded the opportunity to vote JUST THE SAME as everyone else.
Fred Barnes is one of the dead zones. Their unholy view of the world is dying and they are taking the last ugly gasps for us all to witness. The death of ignorant bigotry.

and welcome to DU :hi:

7. They could have MORE early voting locations and staff...
...to make the line go quicker, instead of getting rid of early voting because the lines are slow.

Anyway, here in Minnesota we don't have early voting, but we we haven't had a problem with slow lines so far, because of:

a) Lots of polling places on Election Day.

b) Polling place times of 7AM-8PM (anyone who arrives by 8PM can vote.)

c) We vote on optical-scan ballots, and there are lots of booths for people to go into to fill out the ballot.

8. Early voting accommodates the masses,
enriches the voting experience and most of all.......gives the working class their chance to vote with the kids in tow if they need to do so. He is pisst that people are voting..like millions of Democrats!

Now that I think of it...Fred Barnes.....he is an old FUCK!

9. They hate Democracy.
It is as simple as that. They truly fear, and for good reason, a citizenry that decides that exercising their franchise is not just their right but their obligation.

What an ass hole...typical Republican response. It just shows how heartless these bastards like Barnes are...he sits there spewing his crap with his Brooks Brothers duds and puts down everyone that's not white, wealthy and a card-carrying Republican. This is such typical shit from these jerks.

17. If Early Voting is Wrong
Then why did he vote early?

Not only is early voting a good thing but it should be massively expanded with more polling places and longer hours.

The fact that we have always tried to squeeze something as important as an election into a twelve to sixteen hour period on a Tuesday in November has always been mind boggling.

Not only should early voting be expanded but the official Election Day should be declared a national holiday.

More accessible to more people and cutting back on last minute foul play.

It's so entertaining to watch Republican reaction to fairness, isn't it? But they're still doing their best to steal it.

19. Well I certainly hope the elections board were notified & de-weighted those votes accordingly
Edited on Sat Nov-01-08 09:15 PM by kenny blankenship
It's not fair for early voting to be all jammed up with poor & old people: decent clean folk will take one look at those drab depressing lines, smell all the fried food and pee stained undies, and dash back to their sanitary Mercedes and Lexi without voting. And there they'll sit behind the UV blocking safety glass, resting on their gym toned hams and fidgeting on their iThingys with their manicured thumbs, waiting with the AC on for a break in the line. They'll wait for their chance, but the break won't come. It'll never come, because the poor and the old people won't go away! Who could have guessed they were so many?

What about the rights of the wealthy and able bodied? Shouldn't their voices-if fewer- be heard too? It's not their fault they can't stand in line with the ill-clothed, the ill-housed, and the broken down of the world for more than a minute without having an anxiety attack. They're being forced out of the electoral process, deprived of their votes, because the process refuses to accomodate their refined feelings and senses. And that's a form of invidious discrimination!

36. something might happen .... ??????????
I decided in 1973 I would never, repeat N E V E R, vote for another repub.,
you elitist, arrogant, right-wing snob.

Why should I wait? And why is it wrong? Give it up, Fred, why is it wrong?
Because it lessens the chances of f**king with the votes on election day?
Robs the repubs of a few chances to really f**k with votes they don't agree with
on a day when over 100 million votes must be collected, tallied and put in the proper column? There just aren't enough right-wing lawyers with enough backing
(that would be money) to take a couple of months off and start screwing with the system when early voting starts as opposed to the battle plan they have devised to 'shock and awe' every democratic voter on election day, like they did in
2000?

Maybe we are a nation of whiners. Not the ones the biggest bank robber of all time, Phil Gramm, was talking about, but right-wing neocons who cry like babies when confronted with a fair fight by democracy-loving Americans who are fed up with the crap we have been putting up with for far too long.

37. This "poor old person" LOVES early voting.
I am 54 and I have multiple sclerosis. I vote absentee and have for years because it is physically very difficult for me to get around and the absentee ballot quite honestly frees up the polls for somebody more physically able (and faster) than me.

As it is, I work a 13 hour day at the polls on election day, 7am to 8pm. When I get home, all I can think about is sleep. But at least I helped the U.S. to remain a democracy.

Shame on you, Fred Barnes. You put the pursuit of money above the health and survival of your country. Liberty, my ass. Freedom, my ass.

Fuck you, Fred Barnes.

Fuck you very much.
