This is my Election Day gift to all members and participants of Democratic Underground - new, original, past, present, those still with us, those sadly with us no longer, rude, noble, tattered, damaged, resolute, weary, cynical, HOPEful, those celebrated, those forgotten, most all with a love of knowledge, humanist values and an understanding of the value of TRUTH (well, most of the time). This is my first YouTube and it expresses my feelings at this particular moment in time.

However things turn out tonight, this night and the past six years would not have been the same for me without this forum.

(By the way, I swear to you that I was working on this before Progressive Future used Paul Simon's "American Tune" for their ad. Grr to them for having more free time than me. :) Now I just need to learn to edit video instead of just stills!)

I've loved that song since I was a little kid. My older sister had the Bookends album, that was my favorite song when I was about 7, and it's never ceased to move my soul since. Your editing was perfect, your images right on target. Thank you for this! :hug:



PS: Also way better than the American Tune video. You used the whole song, they only took and about a minute of a 3 minute song. Yours was much more complex and labor intensive. They probably didn't have more time on their hands, they just put out a shorter video. :hi:

That was beautiful. It has been a long day. Up at five to be at the polls with my signs. There till 10 and then I canvassed an area that I normally wouldn't drive through in a car but with my Obama shirt on and a prayer I hung Obama hangers on doors. I talked to people who don't ever see a white lady in their neighborhood but they were happy to see me. I asked everyone if they had voted, many had, some had not but promised they were going. I then went to a project with a black girl, I was scared here because of drug problems but she wasn't though she told me the rats crawled through the roofs in the vents and ate her food so she moved. Yikes, it was creepy. We then went to a somewhat better neighborhood and talked to voters who still weren't sure. I have been working for Suzanne Kosmas for congress here in florida and she is winning BIG time against Feeney. WHOOOO Hooo, that feels great!! I left the polling place at 6:45 after waving my Obama sign and Suzanne sign for two hours as the last voters came. I got a lot of ribbing because the place I was assigned had about five Democrats registered. You know what was funny? When it was dark and they were leaving they would yell OBAMA at me with a thumbs up. The cover of darkness...Thanks DU, you have given me a lot of info to help battle in these races.
