His comment that Obama being an American is "the only association that matters" was 100% class. Don't know why he didn't say that 2 months ago, but still a good thing to say.

2. Was anybody else shocked by the loud, unabashed BOOING of Palin?? |
|
I had no doubt that the classless hicks voting for McCain would boo Obama, even though I hoped they'd have a little more class at the very end. (I was wrong)
But my husband and I were sitting on the couch and our mouths fell open at the BLATANT booing of Palin. Presidential contender in 2012 my ass!!! Even with her misty eyes and quivering lips, there was loud, unapologetic BOOING when her name was called. McCain acted like she had cooties and barely looked at, let alone touched her and her First Dude. That was probably the fastest hug and handshake between two people on the same ticket in history.

You hear it in the last few seconds of the video.
Although I could be a P.T. Barnun and offer a prize to the the one that identifies it, I am not. I am a frugle low consumption liberal. Regardless, the tune stuck me as odd when I heard it.
At the end of the speech, the music ramps up in the background.
This music is from the film, "The Rock", at 1:11 minutes, when the rescue team is destroyed by the kidnappers. I wonder if they paid for the rights to this music....
It is interesting to note that the dialogue is of the evil general demandind surrender due to overpowering advantage, thet the infiltratrator refuses to capitulate, and is anhiliated. Creepy choice of music if you look and the context of both the music and the concession speech of McCain.
Review this piece of sado-erotic movie making at Netflix, or you favorite video store.
The choice to use this music by McCain creeps me out.
I was actually woriking in S.F. in 1996/7 when film was made. so I was a fan until I watched it a few times.
Now I see it as manipulative Hollywood trash.

11. Watched this on CNN--struck by the elderly women in tears... |
|
...being led away by a younger woman, with her arm around her.
:wtf: was that?! I guessed she had to be wealthy or a die-hard loyalist. I don't know many elderly that aren't pissed off at the right wing for cutting off (and limiting) their benefits.

It's time to get to work. I'd be proud to stand next to and work with any American that wants to strive towards making this country a better place. I'd also like to see us rebuild our relationships with those outside of the United States. I'd love to see our country work towards becoming a standard for democracy, empathy, and justice. We've lost our way in many of those things. Many of our ideals are sound yet need to be perfected. It's my deepest hope that we are seeing racism and bigotry of all sorts put on notice. It would be wonderful if those attitudes became remarkable exceptions. Obviously, we have grown and made some progress and no it's far from over.
President Obama also touched on these themes nicely in his speech.
