9. Ok, What happened to the REAL Elizabeth
Did Aliens come down and replace her with a new and improved version? Seriously. She has done a complete 180. I still can't stand her. Just two days ago she was tearing Obama down and now she is lifting him up. She has no middle ground.

I wonder whether Elizabeth is just really concerned for her job, or she has genuinely seen the light. I think Obama has the ability to break through old hatred like that or we probably wouldn't be having this conversation.

12. She is a two faced hypocrite
Remember he is now the most powerful and popular man in the world, the people have spoken clearly. The whole world is rejoicing she would only look stupid. I also caught her say that their was nastiness on both sides. No their was nastiness on your side. The Obama team had so much ammunition to use against McCain it was unreal, and he did not.
So no Elizabeth the nastiness was only from your side.

Note to Elizabeth, if you were paying attention, Obama is not about sides red or blue states he's about the UNITED STATES of AMERICA.

21. I see it as her being one of those people who does not question
what she hears, and she heard a lot of garbage.

If someone like that can also hear a great speech and be stirred to not get snarky, then so can we. Don't get me wrong: I still think she is somewhat of an ass, and get your point, but her example could also get millions of her fans (thousands? lol) to reconsider their own hate for Obama, and to get over it, and to hopefully support him.

I don't want anyone to mindlessly support anyone. I do want people to finally actually listen to Obama and to realize why so many of us already do support him.

13. That sounded heartfelt to me. I rarely watch the show because I can't stand her or
the large black woman--both are insufferable. But after hearing her today I am thrilled that the right-wing's representative on The View is showing the rest of the right-wing how Americans are supposed to act after an election.

Actually she far exceeded any expectation. She was gracious and her compliments to Obama were spot on. Nothing shallow or self-serving about them.

I doubt she had to worry about losing her job. They always love to have a "foil" on those shows to keep things lively.

Okay, Elizabeth, now, to me, you're more than a pretty face. Good show.

Come back and let me know how you feel when she piles on the neocon gangbang that's sure to come demanding Obama's "impeachment" over some matter that pales in comparison to this current administration's 8 years of war crimes..

15. WTF! Is she now not going to criticize Obama as he governs?
did she have a pod take over her body? I have to admit she looks and sounds good as a progressive, maybe another convert to the cause?? seems to easy. I can't imagine doing the same thing if McCain was elected. She's just a superficial cheerleader, but i give her credit for recognizing and understanding the wave....

16. I don't think people just change like that...
how could she be so passionate about McCain/Palin and then have an entirely different tone the NEXT day?
Suddenly, Obama is inspiring NOW??? If she truly feels that way, then it is scary to me. What happened to her rants about Ayers and terrorists, etc.? I don't buy it...unless her whole pre-election persona was fake, as a devil's advocate for ratings.

18. this is a good thing
shows that there are people willing to be positively affected by Obama's win, despite not supporting him. I really think he has a unique chance here, to unite the nation and heal the wounds. I don't expect many of the bigots will get it, or maybe they will slowly, but this shows how taking the high road and extending common courtesy and being articulate about how we are all Americans can speak to those on the other side.

In fact, one of the things which drove me further into the arms of the Democratic Party (I've always been a leftist with some moderate feelings, but Independent for most of my life), was seeing Obama and some others stop the stupid mud slinging and fighting. Seriously. This year was my first primary and my first time to have proudly joined a party, and it is 100% because of people like Obama and Howard Dean and Kucinich and many others on every level. On the contrary, the GOP pushed me away - not that I liked them much before - by being nothing but divisive and hateful.

Don't get me wrong, I have had some really hateful feelings about Bush and Cheney, but it was earned. I did not feel the way I did because of being told to, or for no reason, but because of the things they have done. But mindless hatred and demonizing the opposition, I cannot stand, other than the ones who deserve and earn it.

Like millions of Americans, I am sick of being called a traitor. I am sick of being told I hate America. I am sick of being called a terrorist sympathizer or worse, of being questioned because I want to change the country I love for the better, because I believe in the possibilities of humanity and of science, and in equal rights for all. I am sick of being screamed at for voicing my opinion.

In the midst of this ill and cynical feelings walks a man who showed that Yes We Can rise above that. Yes we can fight for our beliefs without resorting to base hatred and stupidity. Yes we can (I still think it's going to happen) all have equal rights, even those whom the majority fears or doesn't understand. Obama made me calm down, yet simultaneously energized me, along with many millions of others.

So, I will extend the hand to Elizabeth and fist bump her too. I do not count her as the enemy, despite some really ignorant things she's said. I welcome her as a fellow American with whom I am going to have to get along with and work along side of, in order to get the country back on track.

bump!

she seems sincere.

and listen, this is what we WANT. This is what he has asked for. He will be her president too!

Let's give her the benefit of the doubt. If she screws up, we can hold her accountable.

I don't like the things she said in the past, but let's accept her NOW.

How can we ever "come together" if we don't the "other side" in.

His speech was inspiring, and clearly he inspired her! Let it sink in!!!!!

We have to give people a chance. Let him do his thing and people will see he is the real deal.

The way to win people over is like he is...calm and secure.

Now, let's move forward.

on edit: and it's not like she's that IMPORTANT anyway. Clearly she had no impact on the outcome. So let's keep it in perspective.

26. I'm going to wait on trusting her newfound support for our President elect.
She could have been converted by actually LISTENING to him for the first time with an open mind, after her candidate lost. Or, she could be trying to wade through the embarrassment of Obama's landslide. I'll still tune in occasionally for Whoopi and (what is the funny red-head's name?). We will see about lying Liz. She needs to do more than talk or act, to make me believe she just flip-flopped on over to our side after her slander of President-elect Obama.

27. Give me a brake!
I can spot a phony a mile away and believe you me that was as phony as a 3 dollar bill. I saw her introduce Palin in Florida and she hasn't jumped on any bandwagon, she's just securing her job. If she was near tears it's because she had to say something nice and it was probably very painful for her to do it in front of millions of viewers.

I'm sorry but I don't buy it.

30. Yeah, Hersheygirl, like you. . .give me a BREAK !
Edited on Thu Nov-06-08 11:15 AM by Lena inRI
For once, I want someone to ask this woman PUBLICLY:

1--Were you paid by the RNC for your stump intro in FL for Palin? How much?

2--Are you told/paid by any conservative source for talking their spiel on this program?

Then, after her answer, check out with thorough LexisNexis research database whether or not she is bullshitting the public.

Ultimately, as a non-television person, I can't see why this show should have any gravitas toward judging Obama's governance for the next 8 years.

Superficiality on steroids. Circular banter.

I hear/partake in way better discussions at my local cafe and these women get paid millions for their banter?

Fwiw, the only one who sounds anywhere near-genuine is Joy Baher because her consistent use of common sense and courage to call out the bullshit-talk has my admiration.

But should Obama or we take them seriously? Oh puhleeeeze!

Turn this show off and find yourselves a good cafe for public discourse. .that's how it was done in ancient Greece/Rome, 18th century America, presently online.

28. I didn't (and wouldn't) watch all this, but...
...I have to believe somebody - like Whoopi - must have said (or thought), 'Wow, this was too easy...it must be a trick.'

Frankly, this thing says a lot about Repugs and their enablers. They use every low-handed trick in the book...they call us every name and question every thing we stand for and then try and weasel out in the end. Fact is we ain't ready to 'make nice' with a lot of these folks - like this bimbo and everybody on FauxNoise - and it'll take a hellovalot of genuine contriteness for a lot longer than a day or two before I'll be ready to believe that this 'act' even comes close to being believable.

29. I didn't like the person she showed us
during the campaign; but I am deeply moved and grateful to her for supporting our President. She has the ability to impact her fans and her statement of support for our next President showed her to be a patriot over a partisan when it matters the most. I dearly hope some white wing (yeah, white wing) nutters heard her and were challenged to rethink their perceptions of our next President. Not because I care what they think, but because I deeply hope for a safe two terms and a country who finds herself united by the ideas of President Obama.

Thank you, Elizabeth. I also thought what she taught her daughter when she said no one lost was a wonderful thing. Sometimes, even limited people can find greatness and this was her moment of greatness. I applaud her for aspiring to it and achieving it.
