from: jpost article: In an interview with Ma'ariv, Emanuel's father, Dr. Benjamin Emanuel, said he was convinced that his son's appointment would be good for Israel. "Obviously he will influence the president to be pro-Israel," he was quoted as saying. "Why wouldn't he be? What is he, an Arab? He's not going to clean the floors of the White House." link: http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull&cid=1225910047157

5. did someone steal Swanson's lunch money ................? |
|
I am a fan of Real News, with a tad of reservation for now.
Swanson is a loose cannon. He plays fast and loose with the facts and the truth. Quoting someone using words from a newspaper article that paraphrases something the quotee may or may not have meant is a red flag at best and a reason to discount every thing he, Swanson, espouses.
A couple of things. Swanson says Emanuel will 'crack democrat's heads to bring them in line with Emanuel's dictates'. ????? That will be interesting to watch. Emanuel will be an employee - not elected, not having any power granted to him by the people - of this country. Obama has not demonstrated once, to my knowledge, that he will turn over anything to anyone that does not bear Obama's stamp of approval. Reagan may have based his presidency on such capitulation and Bush43 may have wandered in and out his presidency according to things no one has yet figured out. Obama has shown repeatedly he will seek input from the best and brightest this nation has to offer and that will be included in his deliberations as he makes the momentous decisions he will be required to make.
As for signing statements, they are noise, nothing more. Mr. Swanson probably won't read this, but if he does, consider the following. Laws passed by Congress and signed by the president become the law of the land (until SCOTUS rewrites them, but that is another story). The president can make any statement he likes, and sign that, but the law of the land does not change until Congress changes it. Period. Lather, rinse, repeat. Period.

6. Something to consider is we haven't really been governed |
|
with Constitutional checks and balances nor concerns of Constitutional restraints on unConstitutional rule by either party going on eight years now. Some of us do not walk with blind trust anymore.
