Senate leader Harry Reid has informed Joe Lieberman that he will be stripped of his committee chairmanship.

In response, Lieberman has threatend to stop caucusing for Democrats if he loses his chairmanship.

Via TPM: http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/11/lieberman_aide_threatens_reid.php

"The real story here is that Lieberman's aides are now openly threatening Senate leader Harry Reid by saying that Lieberman will stop caucusing with Dems if his chairmanship is revoked:

"Senator Lieberman's preference is to stay in the caucus, but he's going to keep all his options open," a Lieberman aide said. "McConnell has reached out to him and at this stage his position is he wants to remain in the caucus but losing the chairmanship is unacceptable."

1. can his state recall him?
I'd really like to see Lieberman retire from politics. He's done enough damage.

7. Not worth the effort.....let him finish his term in shame.
jolting joe is a liberal in nearly every sense but the military aggression in the Middle East. He certainly backed the wrong horse, and he's done enough to embarrass his party and his affiliations.

Let him finish...let the people of his state carry the shame and embarrassment that THEY voted for...and we'll boot his sappy ass out in the next election....2012.

4. i love the little editorial comment in the final sentence
the reporter says that Lieberman "will continue to vote as he always has, for his state, issue-by-issue."

What a noble guy this Lieberman is!

6. Like McConnel will make him chairman ...

At this point it's a long shot that we'll hit the 60 votes. So if Lieberman wants to filibuster Democrats we'll take it to him in two years and get him booted out of his seat.

11. Lieberman, you're not the BOSS OF US!
It's not like he would have helped us either way.

If this Senator can only vote a certain way based on having a chairmanship rather than because it's the right thing to do, then screw him.

Let him TAKE his effing ball and go home.

"Senate leader Harry Reid has informed Joe Lieberman that he is to be stripped...only of his committee chairmanship, thank goodness."
