1. The O' Bama joke
has been floating around over here for ages - it was as inevitable as it was harmless.

Barack and I are related, since we're both of Irish ancestry, we both hava a Kansas connection, his grandfather and my father served in Patton's 3rd Army in WWII, and his grandmother and my mother both built airplanes in probably the same plant. Prove it isn't so!

Why should the African-American community have him all to themselves?

12. There's even a legal battle about it now!
"Hardy Drew and the Nancy Boys recorded 'There's No One as Irish as Barack O'Bama' earlier this year in honour of the Chicago senator's roots in the small town of Moneygall in Offaly....However, Ger Corrigan is alleging that Shay Black, brother of famous Irish musician Mary Black, has "hijacked" the song and is claiming a co-writing credit and failing to acknowledge their authorship of the original version, a charge Black denies.... Both sides have since sought legal advice."

They remind me a little of The Proclaimers from the Johnny Depp movie, "Benny & Joon".

(Some Irish descent here too, so I love all things Irish.) :)

21. This reminds me of that scene from Shawshank Redemption...
where someone asks Red (who is played by Morgan Freeman) why do they call him Red, and Red is like "Maybe it's because I'm Irish". It's a joke because the person that was supposed to play Red was supposed to be white/irish, with flaming red hair.

26. Wonderful!
Ireland, Kenya, Indonesia, Japan, Illinois, Chicago - Hyde Park and the South Side, Honolulu, Kansas, NYC, Boston, DC - we can all claim him as our special one.

Love this song. It's so much more about unity than it is about being Irish. And only the Irish could have pulled a double entendre song like this off... one minute laughing and the next crying.

Thanks for posting.

and I love the old ladies in the crowd, clapping and enjoying themselves. Hey, did I see a nun in there??

I second the sentiment that it is GREAT to have the world happy for us and not pitying us!!

Thanks for posting, I guess I'm the only one who hasn't seen it!!
