Andy Barr of the Al Franken Campaign explains how Senator Norm Coleman's campaign went to court on Saturday to stop the counting of not just 32 absentee ballots in Ramsey County Court, but also ALL ballots in the state of Minnesota.

At the time of the suit, Coleman was leading Franken by a little more than 200 votes which will trigger an automatic recount after the state canvassing board meets later this month. The suit was dismissed.

"Make no mistake, the Coleman campaign attempted to evade established legal proceedings on a Saturday morning in an effort to stop the counting of legally cast ballots across the state."

1. That's a good sign for Franken
It's means Coleman has probably lost but he's trying to cover his ass. And the suit got thrown out. Wonderful news. :)

10. That's exactly what this reminds me of
It's classic Rovian tactics - claim that the other side is cheating and that the votes are not being treated equally - thus endangering the "integrity of the election". All buzz words for election crimes that the republicans actually engage in themselves. Rove was always a master of framing republican weaknesses as their opponents weaknesses instead.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see a group of republican thugs (paid for by the RNC) being marched down to the vote counting offices to try to stop the counts like they did in Florida.
:grr:

7. Not this time
The shitstorm would be huge, and Coleman would be in trouble as soon as he stepped into the Senate.

20. I agree.
He wasn't slick. He was direct and clear. He wasn't rude, but he made it clear that Coleman's campaign is in the wrong and that Franken is right to be insisting on letting the process proceed.

I thought his tone was just what is needed. He came off as very serious, but not a screaming lunatic or somebody crying sour grapes.

I really don't see how it could be done better than that.

17. Next up: Coleman's own 'Brooks Brothers' team ...
with his and other GOP staffers pretending to be regular Minnesota citizens, upset that a winner hasn't been announced and demanding that any further counting be stopped.

Then we can play "Name that Freeper" and circulate a photo captioned with all the staffers' names.

It'll be great fun! C'mon Normie!!

19. Donation info
for the Recount Fund (to help pay for campaign staff, volunteer expenses, legal, etc.).

I know we've donated and donated, but these open Senate seats are important - Franken, Jim Martin (Georgia, vs. that horrible Saxby Chambliss), and Mark Begich (Alaska, vs. criminal Ted Stevens).

Any amount helps! Lawsuit Lovin' Norm will do whatever he can to win.

24. of course low information voters
like those who probably voted for Coleman, would believe Norm's claims of hanky panky.

I love how he brought up statistics from previous elections. Most of the time the race is not so close, so it doesn't matter. The winner is still the winner after they get all the totals correct.

In this case, though, I'm not so sure.
