A U.S. map of 2008 election gains by county for each Party shows that the nation is turning more Democratic than Republican, and more Liberal than Conservative.

Also revealed, Obama's popularity crossed demographics, and did not win due to an outpouring of either younger voters nor Hispanics. Amazing

2. See the bright red in Louisiana

6. According to the NYTimes map Lafayette was 65/34.

A bit better then you quoted but still red and very little change from 2004 unfortunately. If that's where you live it must be very difficult for you living in such a red area. :(

Take Arkansas out of that map and it's almost all blue.

Almost as if the strength of Democrats in AR has something to do with the residual effect of having an Arkansas Democrat in the White House or on the ticket? Or maybe sour grapes? Republicans moving in from other states?

There would be a little red in Louisiana, Alabama and Kentucky.... but not much.

I also like the tepid movement from Arizona. McCain barely managed to hang on to Bush's victory margin in his own home state. :P

Oklahoma and Tennessee had almost the same margins as they did in 2004.

Louisiana and Arkansas increased their republican margins.

Virtually every other state went more democratic.

14. A most misunderstood map....

I have heard this map being discussed as "total voter turnouts", "total votes", "newly registered turnouts" and everything in between. I believe the correct answer is that it does represent NEWLY registered turnouts and NOT total voters.... That is clear if you compare the electoral maps with this one.
