2. Farai is so wrong about reaching across the aisle.

It's a admirable impulse for her to want that, but she really needs to deal with more Palin supporters directly. If she does, she'll realize that most of these people do not want to work with her, and they will exploit any olive branch she gives them.

I'm not judging her comments harshly, because a couple of decades ago I believed the same thing - that the only way to transform politics is through gaining a consensus from the other side of the fence. Actually, I still do believe that, but that has been tempered by a realization that you can only go so far in trying to work with people who have no intention of working with you. There are many people in this country (and others) that will vote for anyone that they are told is the new king simply because they are the new king. There are many Americans who hate democracy (for others). You can't be a true progressive and work with people like that. Janet Reno was fair and even-handed and that was the reason Ken Starr got as far as he did.

I've seen several reports by the MSM recently mentioning Obama's promises to build an administration with Dems and Repubs. It clear to me that they're trying to hamstring Obama with his own principles. For the moment, I would feel more comfortable with a more unilateral approach from the Obama administration as opposed to the consensus approach that Bill Clinton tried and failed at in his first term.

edit: english
