The conservative, homophobic trolls are rating this down on youtube. With that in mind, click the youtube link, rate the video 5 stars and leave a positive comment to drown out the idiots!

Also check out these videos/articles you may have missed (as well as my polite rant at the end):

You can hear the Young Turks on your morning drive on XM 167 or 24 hours a day at www.theyoungturks.com.

And if you like Rachel Maddow, Michael Moore, John Cusack, Bernie Sanders, Jonathon Alter, David Sirota, Margaret Cho, Marcy Wheeler or Darcy Burner, why haven't you checked out the new show yet?

2. Done!
Go, Cenk!

Cenk's graduated from law school and actually worked in the D.A.'s office for a bit, I believe; he's a very sharp and knowledgeable one.

I SO agree, Cenk!

Onward!

This is a human rights struggle! Right on!

In Solidarity,

8. Practicing, for me, isn't an option either.
I have some family commitments, and I simply am at a place where it's not best for me to begin a career and work 70-hour work weeks anymore at a starting salary.

It's not my passion; I have other things that are, including my activism.

6. It was interesting---
in the 'Yes on 8' literature that sullied my mailbox,
I read repeatedly,

" this is not an attack on the gay lifestyle"

" they have the exact same rights with civil unions"

Yes, it is an attack, and
No, I don't believe the two even compare.

Cenk, you nailed it again.

You bet he does, in a big way.

Great commentary by Cenk. He shows the Prop 8 proponents for what they are.

25. Like I always say, right wing Christian groups have co-opted the word "family"
Almost every right wing nut-job group has the word in it's title:

Family Research Council
Focus On The Family

Etc.

And yes, Tony Perkins is terrible.

19. Mormon Please!!!!
F-in hysterical:rofl: :applause:
I knew Melissa Etheridge during my senior year of high school. I think she is doing exactly the right thing. This inequality has to stop. A National referendum to change the constitution or create a new bill of rights, is what we need now! Move on.org are you listening here? How do we get Obama to bring this up to congress? :bluebox:

20. Ever Rent Big Love?
I don't know how many people saw this, but I think it was HBO (perhaps Showtime) that has, or had a series called Big Love on, and it was about a polygamous family living under the wraps in Utah. Anyway, if you wanted to get a view of what it is like practicing it either openly in a compound, or doing it out in the open society, but hiding, it's a good watch. It's very entertaining, as well. You should be aware there are some R rated sex scenes in it, pretty graphic, though short of porn type scenes, of course.

Anyway, one of the points the compound leaders kept making was that in many places homosexuals were allowed to practice openly, and they weren't, even though it was a similar argument, that these people were consenting adults.

I found it rather like illegal drugs too, where these people had to hide from everyone, not really because they were ashamed of their religion, like many drug dealers believe pot should be legalized, but simply because if its illegality. I think probably the best argument for denying the practice would be the effect on kids, as the adults enter into it openly. There too, were it not illegal, the kids would feel less shame, and there would be more open discussion with people, and perhaps a lot of them wouldn't follow their parents into the practice.

If you wanted to get rid of these compounds, on private land, where people practice the sect of mormonism, making it legal would do that, just like decriminalizing drugs would allow addicts to more easily get help, and almost immediately get rid of drug violence. It would allow people who live in the compounds to move out into society more easily, away from the terrible influences of these harsh compound leaders, who are obviously ruling things to their advantage.

Anyway, I never gave it much thought until I watched this series, and I have to say, it really pushed me more toward the idea that outlawing the practice, just makes it worse. I can't say I'm totally on-board with it, I'd never practice it myself, and I have to say, a lot of the women have to really have low self-esteem to practice this religion. But at the same time, the practice held its advantages too, in shared work, and sacrifice.

Anyway, it's up for rent at Blockbuster, and like I said, whether you agree or not, it's quite entertaining.

As far as them trying to push the outlawing of homosexuality, I'm not sure why, other than perhaps they intend to make a play on the ideas expressed above, that if we are going to allow consenting adults to practice homosexuality, then why are we preventing consenting adults from practicing polygamy.

24. Big Love is a great series. Watch it!!!
In the interest of disclosure, I have relatives that work on that series.

BTW, just to be clear, it doesn't represent the approved practices of the mainstream LDS church (which doesn't approve polygamy now), but a small polygamous splinter group

26. We need a constitutional ban on religion.
That'll show'em.

No, scratch that - how about religious intolerance. We really need to weaken their political influence.

Cenk does have a brilliant way of articulating this. I would have had a hard time being quite so nice.

I am so sick of the pious getting in the way of my so called 'god given' free will. I thought there was something in the bible about not judging others? Or is that one of the many parts they conveniently forget, at least until judgment comes their way?
