8. Wow..

You guys should check out the comments on this video on YouTube. Terrifying. The vast majority of them are something to the effect of "Nixon was right" or "Kill the dirty Jews" or "Nixion was right, everyone knows black are genetically inferior". The worst part is that the anti-semitic and racist comments mostly have positive ratings while the comments calling out the racism have negative ratings. I shutter to think that Americans are posting these comments.

9. This was a side of himself that Nixon kept hidden

I much as I despised the man, I had no inkling he was anti-Semitic until these tapes came out. This is uglier than much of commonplace anti-Semitism in America. Nixon was paranoid; that was brought out be Watergate. But if he didn't see a Communist under every bed, he saw a Jew. It is an anti-Semitism founded in the idea that all Jews are "devious," as Haldeman says on the tape.

All the men on that tape are dead. I wish that kind of seething hate and suspicion were buried with them, but I know better.
