Frum knocks Rove 'not a great batting record' +RNC $ trouble? (00:53) |
|
http://thinkprogress.org/2008/11/13/frum-rove/FRUM: Karl Rove has not had a great batting record recently. He predicted the Republicans would hold the House in 06, and was assuring Republicans they would win in 2008 so I’m afraid that this is a little over-optimistic about 2010.

2. Frum already got bounced once. It took Perle to give him the okay and bring him back in |
|
Frum's wife made the mortal error of sending out an email bragging on her husband's "Axis of evil" line and speech. It got back around to the White House (Rove) and Frum was booted out of the circle. Later Richard Perle had Frum write a book and signed off on him coming back into their world.

4. It isn't a question of who you like |
|
Do you think Frum has a point her, or Rove, or, if neither, at what point in between would you say things are.
It's too early to be making any forecast about 2010. For crying out loud, Obama hasn't even been inaugurated yet. If in 2010 he is perceived as bumbling and ineffective, expect the GOP to make big gains. If he's seen as at least modestly successful, expect the Republicans to make no more than modest gains or even take some losses.

It almost always happens as he said it. A new President with a working majority works hard to get a change agenda passed. The fruits of that agenda are not so evident to the average man on the street within 2 years, and so they naturally go for a pendulum swing.
There will be more than the usual factors this time because Bush is leaving a scorched earth economically. The best we can hope for is to stabilize things and start to mend the economy. But with two years of this Bush economy lingering, Americans will be impatient.
And even if Obama is very popular, he isn't on the ticket in 2010.
If the Democrats can't even summons enough backbone to do something about Lieberman, how much confidence can we possibly have that they will show bold leadership in the next 2 years.
