1. OMG -- this is a must-see!
Edited on Fri Nov-14-08 05:41 PM by 8_year_nightmare
Faux News Guy: "Why is there no oversight on the bailout money?"

Cannon: "Well, back in 1996...uh...when the Republicans took over, we wanted to lead by example, so..."

Faux News Guy: "That was then; you slipped a long way from then..."

Cannon: (continues on his defensive diatribe) "...so what happened in 1995 (sic), when the Republicans took over is that they fired their oversight staff."

Now, he's complaining that Hoyer should give them more staff to oversee the bailout money.

Cannon looked smug in the beginning of the video, apparently thinking that this was going to be another blame-the-Democrats piece, but as the FN guy held his feet to the fire & wouldn't let him off the hook, Cannon resorted to kissing up to the guy -- which didn't work.

Unbelievable that this happened on Faux News.

edited to add more comments from the video.

2. Cavuto doesn't play politics
when it comes to his money. He did a scathing piece to McCain on why he was losing the election late in the game. Basically, he called out McCain for "cockamamie spending schemes" and for voting for the bailout then complaining that Obama had done the same thing.

"That's why you're losing, Senator McCain. Not because you don't have the courage of your convictions, but on economic matters? You have NO convictions."

3. Just watched the video -- thanks!
I never watch Faux News, except for the videos supplied here & on other progressive sites, but it is mind-blowing to see someone from this GOP-cheerleader network hold the mirror up to the faces of the GOP machine.

I do take issue with Cavuto saying that the Democrats like to "spread the wealth". I'd say to him that Democrats like to see that all people get a fair shake; & they believe in looking out for the disadvantaged, rather than spending the entire national treasury on a war based on lies. After all, if not for taking our eyes off bin Laden & invading Iraq instead, there would have been no need for a bail-out.

5. Memo to Congressman Cannon
1. Better to be quiet and thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

2. When you dig a hole so deep you can't climb out, stop digging!

6. If Paulson is the one f---ing up (or more accurately, raiding the treasury
then why would we point the finger at Stenny Hoyer?

It is the Bush administration that created the original problem and that is now all over the map on the fix.

7. Did he not know?
Most conservatives HATE the bailout? Why the fuck would he go on a conservative station without his reasoning well in order?
