Tens of thousands peacefully rallied around the nation in support of Gay Rights.

Spurred by Proposition 8 in California which bans Gay Marriage, people in cities throughout the country have been rallying for Gay Rights and are planning to continue to hold rallies to help build support for equal rights.

3. Excellent!
Thanks for going. I'm going to look for one in my area next weekend (or the next time one is held on this).

2. Nice smear job CNN - don't show any of the small towns or mention
that it didn't just ban SSM, but took away an existing right to it in CA. There were demonstrations in alot more places beyond the big gay capital cities. We had several hundred right here in Boone, NC - population 14,000+-

4. True. But at least it's getting national coverage.
Great to hear about the turnout in Boone, in our great BLUE state of North Carolina!

status of same-sex marriage in all of the states, I want to say that this is an idea whose time has come and we are not going away this time.

Also, look -- just three more posts and I'm at 1000 - yay!

7. Federalize Same Sex Marriage!
Exactly the same way other civil rights were granted. Obama could do it before the end of his second term, no? :fistbump:

11. That's what we need to do: Federal action
I'm over "this is a state's issue." BS.

This is a civil rights issue and when left to the states, religious organizations hold too much power over influencing legislation on gay rights (with total disregard to seperation of church and state).

8. I don't think Prop 8 marked an end, but a new beginning.
I don't believe the movement that has begun to grow in opposition to it will be going away any time soon.

9. I was in the Salt Lake City rally
I would estimate a couple of thousand people. If you know the blocks in Salt Lake, they are very long. As far as you could see, up, down, and around there were people 3 and 4 deep. I got 2 pictures on my cell phone, but don't know how to upload. Sigh. The traffic going by was very supportive. Honking & thumbs up from all types of people. There seemed to be very few obvious Prop 8 advocates while I and my sister were marching.

10. Thanks for the report!
As far as your pics, if you email them to your computer, then host them on flicker or photobucket (or any free hosting site) you can then post them here or on other blogs.

Here on DU, you simply post the url link to the photo, you don't have to include an image code. Something to try out, if not now, another time!

Welcome to DU! :hi:

13. One great thing about gay marriage
is that the goal post has been moved so far that even the opponents of gay marriage are now talking about favoring civil unions (only a few years ago, we were criminals in 19 US states).
