It scares me what will happen in large urban areas if we did have a full scale infrastructure collapse. Republicans have been breeding the everyone-for-themselves attitude for a long time. But it's our cooperation in a community setting that will help us survive. This can't wait. And it's not only for our survival but also for a strong foundation for our future prosperity. Our current system of reliance on long-range distribution and centralized energy sources seems far too fragile to rely upon for long-term sustainability. It's too bad so few policy makers and governing bodies (especially in the business communities) do no consider multiple generations into the future. But who's willing to sacrifice profits in the short term even if it meant untold prosperity for future generations. It would take a paradigm shift.
