1. Look for Lieberman to jump to the GOP for the 2010 midterm elections.
He is a dishonorable and disreputable man. The Dems will regret not cutting him loose entirely.

21. We shall see who regrets what
I'm still of the opinion that Lieberman (along with McCain) can be useful in getting Obama's domestic agenda passed; and in a way where more Senators and Congressmen from both parties are part of the process. Contrast that with the Gingrich approach of running roughshod over the minority, creating the animosity and bitterness that lasts to this day.

22. His term is not up until 2012 - but he could switch anytime. Personally I
think he is saving it for a highly partisan vote when the dems will need his vote - then he will hold something over their heads, he will get what he wants, and he will switch parties and vote with the pubs.

3. Probably the first time I ever agreed with that douchebag
I'm "not happy" with it either.

Maybe not for the same reason though.

5. I Hope It's Not True
:wtf:!!! He should lose that chairmanship. Where the hell are the Dems balls on this? If this is true, I have no pity for the Dems if he backstabs them again. Which we all know he will do.

11. It's called politics-you know that and you know the reason they are
not gonna strip him of the Homeland chair.

I however, am not bound by this and I am sending my Liebermann tee shirt to his office with the name scratched through - I haven't decided if I want to write something in - any suggestions?

19. You Haven't Seen Anything Yet
You haven't seen anything yet.

What will you say when the Republican Party minority controls the Senate agenda next year with the mere threat of filibusters?

That will give some Democrats the excuse they need to abandon progressive legislation.

I mean .... they surely can't let the Republicans to tie up the Senate for minutes,a few hours or even a day or two by talking against Democratic proposals .... a filibuster.

24. Bring back the repukes 'nuclear option.'
I am sick of them requiring 60 on damn near every vote. They threatened to change the rules if the Democratic Party had played ball this way. Call them on it. I would support it.

Let the repukes know that unless they get the crooks out, we can change the rules too. I would love to watch them try to defend why it was fine for them, but not for us.

29. That Will Never Happen
Why not just let them filibuster while the Democrats attack their partisan opposition to legislation most people want?

What the hell is wrong with a filibuster? Let the filibusters begin! We can wait them out while they isolate themselves.

I haven't heard a single Democratic Senator challenge the Republicans to filibuster in the past two years. And yet, these same politicians gave up the filibuster when the Republicans ran the Senate!

12. He KEPT his executive office oversight role.
He remains chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs committee, the equivalent of Henry Waxman's role in the House.

The Dems gave him a slap on the wrist and he's "unhappy." Expect exacting and meaningless examinations of everything Obama does with plenty of leaks to Sean Hannity for the next two years.

27. Hmm,
I forgot about the executive oversight role. You know, now if he does another back-stabbing - no he'd never do that? - he'll pull "this poisonous atmosphere of partisanship," or they're persecuting me because I won't bite my tongue, or they're firing me because I blew the whistle.

They don't want to learn, he's already gone over to the dark side of the force.

10. What a disappointment! There is no way this man
can be trusted.

What is wrong with Democrats? I thought we were going to change things in DC and as far as I, and so many others who watched him give the keynote address at the RNC Convention, at the top of the list that needed changing, was removing him from the committees we were told we needed him on UNTIL we got a majority!

So much for having a majority. Works for Repubs but not, apparently for Dems. I wonder what esle we thought we were changing, will just be business as usual?

13. If he's going to vote with Republicans
the 60th vote means nothing. Maybe they want to give him the shot at doing the right thing. If he demonstrates an affinity with the Republicans Reid can always give him the boot.
Joe may be a first class back stabbing scumbag, but he knows where the power in the Senate lies. If I were the majority leader I'd have him kissing every Democratic senator's ass in public as a show of loyalty and appreciation that they let him retain some influence.

20. I don't care about 60 votes or revenge so much as
Lieberman isn't trustworthy. And his Bush capitulation on serious matters over the years is cause for concern. It's a danger to national security to have Lieberman as the chair of that committee. He'll effectively kill relevant investigations and whitewash abuses we should know about. He should be stripped of it for the safety of our country.

I am going to try and give the Dems the benefit of the doubt. If Lieberman fucks up, I would hope that we will put their asses on the line in his place.

26. The Senate Dems long ago used up their "benefits of the doubt"
They just don't want to reprimand one of their own but they have no problem censuring MoveOn.org and their political base.

28. I'm more than disgusted
The Dems are on thin ice with this one. I've been a Dem all my life (and that's a lot of years and votes) but I'm getting pretty fed up with their lack of spine. I doubt if I'd ever vote for a repuke but I could sit out a lot of elections. One bright spot for me, I'll save a lot of money as I give a lot to the Dems every election and I might just close up my wallet.
