Iraq has not split apart yet, but I think with the prominence of the Shia in government the two minority powers of the Kurds and Sunnis will consider their options once the United States pulls out. The Kurds may just wait for the right time to move from partial to complete autonomy. Iran will be able to retain political control of the part of Iraq with the most oil fields.

It's not like anybody with a modicum of knowledge of the region couldn't see this one coming. Ware is very good on this stuff, he's gotten older looking living in Iraq all these years, it has to be wild that's for sure.
