3. Believe me when I say that I'm typing this with sorrow in my heart

But President elect Obama is not the man to talk to. There's a chance he supports gay marriage privately but he'll never support it publicly, especially in his first term. He'd lose a lot of support and his chances of getting reelected 2012 would be slim. This is one change he won't bring. :(

4. Who knows what smart people can do behind the scenes

Just because Obama doesn't proclaim out loud, doesn't mean he won't be working behind the scenes to get things done appropriately. In a battle, sometimes it is not smart to go running towards the enemy camp with your gun raised, screaming - you can become a target yourself. Sometimes it is better to act covertly, quietly - much like special operations do during war. Scalpel vs. hatchet

They were only interested in perpetuating division and affirming a wedge issue."

6. I think you're absolutely right about Obama working behind the scenes.

I, too, believe this man is extremely intelligent and hopefully cunning. I didn't much care about a lot of things he said during the campaign. I just wanted him to say what he needed to to get elected. Then we shall see what happens.
