I know many, many, many Eastern Orthodox Christians (you can't get more historical than us) and Catholics who are for human rights for all humans, not just some.

If he's talking about those evangelicals and fundamentalists, dude, those aren't "historical" Christianity. And what "historical" Islam is he referring to? Judaism, too? Really? Prove it, you moron! From what I've read, there have always been people of faith who have believed in human rights. There have always been gay and lesbian clergy in the Christian church (talk to any church historian), and I'm sure it's similar in other faiths.
