Liverpool was named the European Capital of Culture in 2008 and Ringo Starr kicked off the festivities which featured Echo & the Bunnymen as the main attraction.

The other lads from Liverpool, Echo & The Bunnymen, are the most successful band out of the port city since the Beatles (but nothing close obviously - and they'll admit it)

They are from the late 70's early 80's and now Liverpool's main arena is named after them...

Echo Arena.
