The former Ludlum Elementary School, in Long Island's Hempstead Union Free School District, was renamed at a school board meeting Thursday -- effective immediately.

Those proud kids. I hope it makes them better students. I think this is a fisrt of many schools to follow. Too bad here in Ca we didn't get to name the sewer plant after Bush. LOL! It was sooooooo fitting.

4. I think it is WONderful! Anything to motivate children to reach for the stars, and now for the
first time in their lives, they have a wonderful role model in our President-elect Obama. Congrats all the way!

5. Wow! You can almost SEE those kids' sights expanding!
I was struck by several of the kids saying how proud they were! I guess it didn't really hit home till now, but from now on we can point at this and say to kids in the minority, "See, you really can be anything you want to be in this world!"

Another big moment was seeing one of the newscasters with a poster of all our American presidents and he was talking about how it would look when Obama's picture was put next to theirs in classrooms all across America. Just...wow.

6. Wonderful!
When my husband heard it, he suggested that if a school were to be named after George W. Bush, it should be named the George W. Bush school for bullies and blunderers.
