3. Finally tracked down the Supreme Court decision & read it - it was good reading

After reading the decision, it was kind of surprising they didn't step in and stop the initiative in the first place as they were SO strongly against either legislative or popular vote in restricting basic rights given by the constitution. So to have them wait until March is even more unusual, given that the ruling was so strongly worded.

I'm not sure if they are simply trying to take this slow so that they get it right once and for all, or if that is just the nature of the process, but since they did not step in before the vote, I would have hoped they could have been more expedient on the after-vote fallout.

I feel bad for any elder folks who are going to miss the chance to marry should one of the couple pass away before the court proceeds. Seems to the tone of the decision was such that they would have not restricted continuation of marriages as there was no gray area suggested in the majority opinion.
