The Chris Matthews Show: How Is Obama Different From Bush?
By Nicole Belle Monday Nov 24, 2008 12:15pm

http://crooksandliars.com/nicole-belle/chris-matthews-show-how-obama-differe

This is truly a sad statement on the state of journalism in the US today. That the question "How is Obama different from Bush?" even needs to be posed -- much less discussed -- is truly insulting to the intelligence of the waning viewers that these guys get.

Hmmm....let me count the ways: One's a divisive ideologue who has risen to undeserved levels of status given his personal mediocrity and intellectual laziness due to his connections versus one who believes in a post-partisan government that gets things done who has had to overcome many personal obstacles to achieve great levels based on intelligence, charisma and hard work. I can totally see why the public would need this clarified.

The thing that continues to be so frustrating is the continued post facto admissions by the Villagers as to the deficits that we've had over the last eight years with Bush. Sure, now that he is two months away from walking out of the White House for the last time, we can admit that the world hates us and doesn't want to work with Bush, as Katty Kay does, or that he is stupid (to put a more honest term to Woodward and Borger's "intellectually incurious) and finds the whole "understanding other people's points of view" boring.

But where were they for the last four years? Where was their outrage and coverage of this then? How many soldiers' lives could we have saved if the media had been more honest about Bush? How many poor Iraqi civilian lives? Time and time again, the media abdicates their role in presenting context and in this case, their acceptance of the catapulted propaganda has led the country to the brink of ruin. And yet they feel no culpability. Instead, they treat us to these faux-hard hitting dialogues comparing and contrasting Obama to Bush. Brilliant.

1. THIS is the same guy that brought on Dan Burton to talk about the Clinton years. To Hell with him.

11. I thought he made Burton look like an idiot
The last time I saw him on there. Not that that takes much. Matthews brought up the fact that loony Dan thinks the Clintons killed Vince Foster and even asked him to clarify the type of melon he shot in his backyard! Ha

14. To Tweety's credit
he did ask Dan Burton if he still thought the Clinton's killed Vince Foster.

3. And this is interesting because? Saying that Bush is no intellectual?
That Bush has the cowboy mentality if "either with us or against us?"

Everything that he says it is true - and I stopped after a couple of minutes - but is this why he is pulling millions of dollars? To point out the obvious?

5. I agree 100% with Nicole Belle's comments:
"That the question "How is Obama different from Bush?" even needs to be posed -- much less discussed -- is truly insulting to the intelligence of the waning viewers that these guys get."

Tweety is basically an asshole who needs to keep up the mortgage payments on that Martha's Vineyard home. He will say and do whatever he's got to in order to drop that check in the mail every month.

4. Bob Woodward is great

His voice reminds me of a cross between Mr. Mackey the counselor from SouthPark and Dick Cavett.

6. A President who can think. What an amazing concept....
That means he might actually get a few things right. It means embarrassing blunders like invading the wrong country or letting the towers get hit; when you could have prevented a hijacking to begin with, won't tend to happen. Wow. What a concept.

8. You know..
it almost makes me want to see Palin become a celebrity because the MSM has buried her.
I don't think she can do it though. She and Dean are both testaments to what happens if these guys don't like you. They could have put Bush under a million times over. Yes, Virginia, there is a conspiracy.

10. I don't have a problem with it.
The tape was made for the masses and general viewer. There was time when I hated Matthews but I feel he had an awakening of sorts. I like him far better now in that he presses for clarity in answers like with Bachmann.

12. Tweety is neither "one of us" nor "one of them".
He is "one of those"...a self-serving media windsock and ratings whore who sensed a change in attitude in the country and changed his to match it, strictly for popularity reasons. He probably doesn't even have any principles to call his own.

15. What's your point?
All your bluster has NOTHING to do with the video you posted - actually I think you posted the video to suck people into reading your negative, chip-on-the-shoulder view of Chris Matthews.

Most of your post has to do with what happened in the past under the bush administration, not the refreshing positive position of Obama as portrayed by Matthews.

Matthews' premise of the question he poses and then backs up with a number of videos indicating the differences between bush and Obama makes perfect sense, as long as one is open-minded, objective, and hopeful.

So, other than your slam of a number of issues unrelated to the video you posted, what's your point??

17. That's ridiculous...
...you think he didn't "rain" MORE shit on republicans? Get real. Of anyone who works for a major network he's one of the more pro-Democratic one can find. About the only others that may be better would be Olbermann or Maddow.

So, give us an objective example without going off on a tangent like you did in your original post, ok?
