2. It's called "Les on a ledge"
Les tried to commit suicide when one of the sports players he interviews thinks he is gay. It's a really interesting show for 1979. Now of course, this kind if discrimination wouldn't be allowed. We've come a long way, though not enough. Here is a better place to see the entire ep:

5. What do you mean "old show"?
I guess I'm the one getting old. I loved that show, and always wondered how such a great show could get canceled after only 4 seasons.

13. Thanks, I just finished watching it.
I'm surprised they got away with airing something that progressive on only their third episode.

14. And it was prime time too.
I think they got away with it because no one was actually gay. There is an episode where Johnny and Venus are raffled off (date the jock) and Johnny gets a guy. It's a very brief funny moment in an ep about Andy and his girlfriend, but the suggestion that the listener was gay.

22. Hate to correct you on this, but this is the correct episode
If you keep watching, you will see the twist in this episode. The next scene reveals that Turkeys really can fly, but they actually dropped to their death and committed suicide because Les Nesman revealed that they are gay turkeys in an interview.

16. OMG!!!
Watched them both.
Turkeys - a classic!
Les on the Ledge - certainly an on-the-edge program - no wonder I liked the show so much.
Thanks for the links.

19. I vividly remember that episode
It is kind of bittersweet for me as I was very able to relate to Les and the notion that being gay was something I just would be able to live down. I had a similar misunderstanding happen to me when I said something stupid. Of course, it wasn't really a misunderstanding in my case. It happened so close in time that it really was freaky. Glad to see the episode again. It was very well done and quite daring for its day.
