Limbaugh Hoped President Obama Fails -- You Responded |
|
Over 70,000 of you signed our petition to break the back of Rush Limbaugh style politics. Your response was so overwhelming that you caught the attention of media outlets like CNN, Fox News, and Air America. Not to mention Rush himself.

I don't know what the deal is with everyone on the right saying it that way (the Democrat Party). It is irritating.

It's like they all got together and decided to start saying it that was a few years ago.

But she does say "Democratic"
Probably because she's not referring to the party itself.

3. Rats. This is the first time I've heard of the petition. I found it, though, & gladly signed. |
|
My message:
I'm all for freedom of speech, but this radio broadcaster crosses the line. He incites hatred & promotes division with lies & propaganda.
If anyone has a list of those companies that help finance this hatred & division -- along with Limbaugh's 5 homes & 6 luxury automobiles -- please list here for everyone to see. I don't want one dime of my money supporting this "human being's" high quality of life.

Rush Limbaugh style politics? It says that the petition will go to Rush to show him our opinions. Doesn't he live for this kind of thing? Aren't you just making his day? It seems no more effective than telling Ann Coulter that we disagree with her hate speech. They live for that shit. It would make sense to organize a serious boycott of Rush's advertisers, especially in these economic times.

Only because I think that he would enjoy knowing that I am pissed off. It is like arguing with somebody who's goal is to push your buttons and having them smile at you as you yell at them. Not very gratifying. I do wish that there were some way that we could cause some pain against Rush. Perhaps tie him to republicans that lose office. Maybe tie him more closely to the Fairness doctrine. Perhaps make his sponsors suffer. My personal favorite is to make him completely irrelevant. Talk about him in the past tense whenever possible.

10. Well sometimes it sucks to be right. |
|
and let me say that I don't get a chance to say that too often :) Boy, it just burns me to read those comments. But as I remind everybody when we talk about the last election. 45% of the country, more or less, voted to keep going down the path we are going with McBush, Palin and Joe the plumber at the helm. When you read those comments, you see just the mindset of the people who voted. I had to stop reading after a few comments because it was just ruining my night. I wonder how many of them have lost their jobs as a result of the policies they have been supporting.

16. A lot of them have to be in the same boat as we are, don't you think? |
|
Edited on Sat Jan-31-09 11:27 PM by pacalo
They feel the same effects as we do. They just don't realize they're directing their anger not at the actual causes, but at those targets their radio/tv propagandists tell them to, because they're not used to thinking for themselves. They have to be told what to think, which is catapulted by hatred & divisiveness, because they know they can't win using facts & truth. As Stephen Colbert said, facts have a well-known liberal bias.
Our anger is directed at the source of the problems, after we've thought about & questioned what we see before us. The fact that we're angry at their leaders gives them the impression that it's an "us vs. them" type struggle. It isn't. We're angry because their leaders are flat-out wrong. Until they see the light of truth, they'll gladly & fervently, & ignorantly, continue to vote against their own interests.

If leaders from our own party were flat our wrong or flat out deceptive, we would turn against our own leaders, even toward Obama. If Obama were to significantly break away from the platform he was running on during his campaign or started making very bad decisions or starting acting against the constitution, you would see a big uprising by the democratic party.
As you pointed out, we think about and question what is before us. That is a huge aspect of the democratic and independent party that I hardly see in Republicans. Sometimes they act more like a cult than a political party. Today's conditions are almost proof positive of that. Heck, if you are not unhappy with the leadership of the Republican party over the last 8 years, you will never be unhappy. A while back, when I was not happy with the Democratic leadership, I very seriously considered changing parties.

30. The sheeple ARE unhappy. They just misdirect it toward the wrong people & causes. |
|
Instead of doing research, they turn to the radio/tv corporate-sponsored propagandists to hear what they should think -- fast-food style, requiring no work. If the British hadn't gotten involved with Iraq & we wouldn't have had their outspoken, revealing news articles, I wonder how much truth would have gotten out.
After BushCo slithered their way into the WH, I decided I was going to continue paying attention to government affairs, regardless of what party. And you're right, we Democrats, who actually do research, are quite capable of turning against our party's leaders if they stomp on our rights; more true today, thanks to BushCo's rubber-stamp leadership. That's got to be his legacy: my-way-or-the-highway partisan leadership (no telling what he did to accomplish this), secrecy (public has no right to know because we just might hold them accountable), only the rich deserve entitlements, drag the country's Constitution & reputation through the mud.
Grrr...we could go on & on, couldn't we? It won't heal until these corrupt b@stards are held accountable.

if everybody would just take ten minutes a day, call his and hannity's sponsers, take them why you can no longer buy their products. Tell them you associate their product with a lying, racist ex-junkie draft dodger. remember, this guy called the Clinton's multiple murderers all though the nineties (if you don't believe me, look it up) Call republican congressmen, ask them to repudiate this guy for smearing the Clinton's and for hating America, wanting our President to fail. Congressional switchboard (202) 225-3121. ask for your rep. or senator, they will connect you.

Especially during the "kick their @ss, take their gas" days, when any word of common-sense dissention was called "unpatriotic".
I remember those days without an oasis away from the "up is down" mentality. It's like you're in the Twilight Zone with no end in sight, isn't it?
Glad you found DU. :)

Martyring Limbaugh, will that really help bringing back balanced broadcast media? I though the consensus for progress was a re-tooling of the Fairness Doctrine. The Right mantra is any regulation of the sort is 'against free speech'. who's driving this backlash?

Because you know what will happen, right? That fat, America-hating pedophile will sanctimoniously wrap himself in the flag and suddenly be a big fan of the First Amendment.
I think the likes of him should be allowed to keep farting their stupidity over the air. It does much more damage to the Republicans to let them keep talking: i.e. "See? They would rather see America go down in flames than prosper under a Democrat".

and that he is unable to ever have a private conversation again. Then someone ought to snap a black bag over his head, and put him on a prison ship, and make him wear Club Gitmo gear, while they waterboard him 23 out of 24 hours a day. No charges, no trial, no lawyer, no letter home, loved ones don't know where he is, you know the kind of treatment he thinks is deserved of terrorists. The guy is unpatriotic. That should be a crime.
