1. How different that is.... |
|
from the BS account given by Watson.
And it leaves no doubt that our 20 year Merchant Marine, whose name I don't think I'm allowed to say here, had it right yesterday.
That was an aggressive attack on a ship registered to a sovereign nation. And Watson had the nerve to bitch about "Military Grade" sonic cannons being used (Being that only Watson himself is the one who described them thus)?
I don't think it will be too much longer before Watson is in prison or on the bottom.

There are 6.7 billion of us destroying the planet. That's plenty enough to threaten and kill the ones that don't feel like playing by the rules. I say kill these Japanese motherfuckers and get this shit over with. There are plenty of people and not enough whales.
Do you want your children and grandchildren to live in a world without whales? This "humans first" crap pisses me off.

How does believing that humans aren't superior to other forms of life, especially endangered ones, make me a nut?
More than that, I didn't insult anyone, and yet you decided to insult me without providing any kind of logical argument against my vitriol. Don't you know that's the way one is supposed to handle tense voices and anger? I'm honestly disappointed.

That is narrowly correct.
You insulted everyone who is a human.
Presumably including the folks aboard Sea Shepherd.

The people cheering this are idiots and will be scratching their heads when other extremist groups also decide to start using violence. This was a criminal act, people need to go to jail for it, and I for one don't want these nuts speaking for me when I go to protest something.

The whaler was running steady and the Irwin was turning hard (See the changing angle of the water cannon in the forefront). That was no accidental collision, and depending on conditions, could well have capsized both vessels.

At one point they break contact, and the Irwin is still running hard, makes contact with the hawsepipe, one last time, before falling astern. He's hard over into the whaler, and he's running full out.
So ends my support for their campaign. If his story was 'they boxed me in and cut me off' he's incompetent, or a liar, and dangerous. Whaling ship or not, there are people aboard. Skipper of the Irwin just went too far.

8. What is with you people... |
|
It is the fault of the japanese because they are out there killing whales. They are lying to the whole world when they say they are doing this for research. BULLSHIT!! They actually announced they would kill over 900 minke whales this year alone, FOR RESEARCH?. The morality of what Watson is doing is quite clear. Nobody else seems to be doing any thing about this. Greenpeace? Give me a break, they write angry letters. Incidentally, animal research in universities is actually doing some good for both man and animal (ever vaccinate your pets?), and does not compare to what is going on down there. The japanese are selling the whale meat which is totally illegal.
What are YOU PEOPLE doing about this? I agree that Watson is a bit of a klutz, but hey, the japanese are KILLING WHALES ILLEGALLY.

I'd turn it right around and ask what is with you? How can you ignore reality and say that incident is the fault of the Japanese?
That's like Bush saying all civilian death in Iraq is Saddam's fault.

23. No, it's like saying that murderers of civilians in Iraq are inhuman . . . |
|
just as murderers of whales in Australian waters are inhuman.
I don't disagree that the Irwin deliberately rammed the other vessel, which is probably a criminal act. But I put it in the category of civil disobedience -- and there is no question that the whalers are in violation of law and international agreements every season.
Bottom line: hunting whales is a crime against nature. It should not be tolerated.

You have obviously never engaged in civil disobedience, possibly because organizers sent you home knowing your behavior would be counterproductive.

27. Ah, so what the whalers are doing is akin to "Auschwitz", you say. |
|
And that requires "extraordinary acts". We can't be truthful here and call them "life-threatening criminal acts"?
Whaling and Auschwitz aside, I hope Watson ends up in jail for a long time.

15. That was a deliberate ramming. |
|
While I am sympathetic to the anti-whaling movement that clearly wasn't an accident as the ship steered into the other ship, rammed it, and kept its rudder hard over to keep itself into the other ship for as long as possible. That is a criminal act. Every time the extremists do something over the top like this it just makes us all look bad and it justifies harsher measures against real protesters who aren't committing crimes. I honestly hope the anti-whaling people who rammed a ship doing a legal activity get sued and face criminal charges because they bring disrepute to the rest of us.

While I am totally against Japan doing whaling, ramming a ship is just an act of pure violence. Whats next? Do they start using real guns and bombs instead of rotten butter? Why not just sink the ship and kill the crew? Some people would like that, I am sure.
That would be an act of eco-terrorism. There simply must be another method to deal with these Whalers other then killing them or causing great bodily harm.

19. Now that I've seen the video, clear as day that it was deliberate. |
|
I've just lost sympathy for these people. I was willing to withhold judgement, but this video clearly shows what actually transpired. Like you said, they turned right into the whaler and were NOT cut off by either it nor the vessel this video was shot from.

Actually the 'legal' activity is illegal under international law. That said, this was really stupid of Watson. I really felt that Sea Shepherd were really getting some good press and were on the verge of changing a lot of folks opinions. It's really a tragic opportunity lost.

the media. Pay attention and report the news or force more desperate tactics for more attention. The slippery slope of entertainment "news" in action.
