Rove: 'No one that I know of is talking about tax cuts only' |

Apparently, Rove doesn’t know any Senate Republicans. Yesterday, 36 out of 41 Senate Republicans voted for an amendment offered by Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) that was an alternative “stimulus” plan consisting of nothing but permanent tax cuts. http://thinkprogress.org/2009/02/06/rove-tax-cuts/

he kind of hisses his words out of his mouth. That means he is in a sense lying or trying to manipulate the listener with an argument that is insincere -- fashioned to persuade the other person but not from his heart. His voice says that he doesn't really believe what he is saying to be true. He is just saying it because he thinks that it will hoodwink his rather stupid, unintelligent listener into believing what he is saying is true. Rove is manipulative. You can hear it in his voice and the way he produces his voice and the way he enunciates his words.
When someone is speaking honestly from the heart, they relax their mouth and the words come straight out. Same is true of singers. Listen to someone like Ella Fitzgerald. Listen to Nina Simone. Nina Simone didn't really have much voice. But she sang without phoniness.
On the political scene, listen to Paul Krugman, for example. He just talks straight even when he is relatively intense and excited about what he thinks. He is a sincere person, not manipulative. Paul Krugman says what he thinks. He is not trying to win points with the listener or pull the wool over the listener's eyes. Paul Krugman knows what he is talking about and just tells you.
Listen not just to what a person says but how they produce the sounds of what they say. Voices and voice production are just as revealing as facial expressions. And Rove's speech mannerisms and voice reveal that he is arrogant, looks down on his listeners and is trying to manipulate them. This is a good way to know when people are telling you the truth, when they are being really sincere.
